And while the government has introduced their \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/energy-bills-support\/energy-bills-support-factsheet-8-september-2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Energy Price Guarantee\u2019<\/a> scheme in response, consumers across the UK will still feel the pinch.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This could mean several households will be looking to get out of costly fixed deals to switch to a default tariff and benefit from the new measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And research shows three negative reviews can drive away customers by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cmglocalsolutions.com\/blog\/yes-negative-reviews-can-impact-your-business-but-you-can-overcome\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">almost 60 percent<\/a>.\u202f\u202fSo, with <a href=\"https:\/\/datareportal.com\/essential-twitter-stats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">486 million active users<\/a>, Twitter has become an extensive platform for engaged consumers to announce both praise and complaints in equal measure.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Considering this, our researchers at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Solar Centre<\/a> analysed over 3100 tweets \u2013 using a unique sentiment analysis tool \u2013 to discover which of the \u2018Big Six\u2019 energy companies received the most negative mentions across an industry that has been under scrutiny for many months.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/1-negative-tweets.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"1003\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/1-negative-tweets.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/1-negative-tweets.png 960w, https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/1-negative-tweets-287x300.png 287w, https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/1-negative-tweets-768x802.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Scottish Power has the highest number of poor reviews, with 873 tweets containing a negative sentiment. \u2018Cost\u2019 (60%), Customer Service (32%) and Communication (28%) are the three biggest complaints in Scottish Power&#8217;s mentions.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/2-customer-complait.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"926\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/2-customer-complait.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4751\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/2-customer-complait.png 960w, https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/2-customer-complait-300x289.png 300w, https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/2-customer-complait-768x741.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Only recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ofgem.gov.uk\/publications\/ofgem-warns-energy-companies-utilita-and-scottish-power-about-failure-properly-protect-customers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ofgem has issued a warning<\/a> to Scottish Power following a series of apparent failings related to its debt repayment plans and how it deals with customers struggling with bills.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This Provisional Order comes ahead of the findings of a full market review into how suppliers make sure they are supporting customers struggling with bills.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>British Gas follows closely with 671 negative mentions. The energy company received the second-highest percentage of complaints about \u2018customer service\u2019 (45%) and \u2018delays\u2019 (15%) and third-highest percentage of complaints about \u2018cost\u2019 (72%) and \u2018communication\u2019 (26%) compared to any other energy company analysed.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This may come as no surprise to its customers as British Gas\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizensadvice.org.uk\/consumer\/energy\/energy-supply\/get-a-better-energy-deal\/compare-domestic-energy-suppliers-customer-service1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">customer service was given a low rating<\/a> (2.95\/5) from Citizens Advice earlier this year. However, it seems British Gas is trying to improve its customer service by offering its customers a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/money\/19731775\/millions-british-gas-customers-rebate-direct-into-bank-accounts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a3400 rebate<\/a> to help with rising costs this winter.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EDF energy completes the top three energy firms with the highest number of negative tweets (449). It received the highest negative tweet score for \u2018appliances\u2019 (31%) and third highest for \u2018customer service\u2019 (44%) and \u2018delay\u2019 (14%).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the other end of the spectrum, E.ON has the lowest number of negative tweets with 361. When analysing the sentiments, \u2018customer service\u2019, \u2018delays\u2019 and \u2018appliance\u2019 are the words with the best scores.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite having the lowest number of negative tweets, E.ON received the most venemous complaints &#8211; with the highest proportion of tweets containing swear words out of the Big 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/3-Swear-words.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"1025\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/3-Swear-words.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4752\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/3-Swear-words.png 960w, https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/3-Swear-words-281x300.png 281w, https:\/\/www.thesolarcentre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/3-Swear-words-768x820.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, \u2018cost\u2019, is the most tweeted negative keyword with Ovo receiving the highest percentage of this keyword (75%). This is followed by \u2018customer service\u2019 &#8211; the most popular negative keyword for SSE overall (47%) &#8211; and \u2018communication\u2019 takes third place.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After months of warnings about the rising price of gas and electricity, on October 1st this became a reality.
