About Us

Back in 2005 myself, David Eaton and Luke Sanders decided we wanted to run our own online business. The three of us had been working together in the investments industry for over 5 years and wanted a change. Initially we couldn’t settle on one idea, but one thing was clear, after 5 years of investments we wanted to do something more conscientious, something that adds value to society, something we could be proud of.

Sometime in Spring 2005 the three of us took lunch together at a small London café near where we were working at the time. The idea was to discuss business ideas but David was talking about a news story he’d read regarding the environment and before long all three of us were engrossed in discussion about green issues. It was a worthwhile diversion as it inspired Luke to suggest some sort of green online venture. The motion was passed unanimously.

Several weeks later we reconvened to cement our ideas. I have always been a huge fan of solar power which started when I was given my first solar watch as a kid back in the 1980’s. I knew quite a bit about the industry and felt that solar should be our focus. The three of us agreed - we were going to be an online one-stop-shop for everything solar and The Solar Centre was born.

The Solar Centre now has the largest range of solar products anywhere on the internet supported by a rapidly growing and intensely loyal customer base. Our team has grown too and we recently opened up a trade division to meet growing demand within the green retail sector.
