Excellent, easy to fit and works just as expected. Will probably buy more. Only comment is that the swivel is too lose on the solar panel

Good little light
Great little light for the price. Fitted over the front door to illuminate the keyhole. If anything too good - light comes on when people pass on the pavement 5 yards away.

Love this product so much I ve bought loads...scattered around the perimeter of the garden, front and back...great added security, and terrific to give a little extra light when coming in in the evenings! And all without having wire anything up to the mains.
By Anne Jenkins on Mar 9, 2014
Used this in a rugby club smoking shelter It was the ideal solution, cheap and easy to fit. Not a very bright light but good enough for this purpose
By Clive on Feb 23, 2014
Good but flimsy
A pretty good light for the price, but the lug fixing on the unit is a bit flimsy and broke when I stretched the wire too tight (partly my own fault). I managed to adapt it to fix on my fence. The light is amazingly bright for such a small unit and, if it lasts, then I will be delighted, because I have had so much trouble with mains power units in the past. As the Evo15 is in a very unprotected area I smear grease around the joints of the unit to help keep the water out. Seems to work. So far so good.
By Ian on Feb 6, 2014
should have sent it back
Bracket snapped off, needed to put up so glued on another. Now it does not work seems the switch is broken. When it did work light was bright but only staying on for 25 seconds was not so good.

Evo15 Solar PIR Utility Light
I bought two to light my garden summerhouse and have only charged them so far to decide where to position the lights inside the shed. They seem to work well, although the swivel ball joints on the solar panels seem a little 'loose' and I am wondering if high winds might adversely affect the directional setting of the panels - time will tell and maybe warrant the fifth star! Very prompt delivery,. Thank you.
By D. Oxley on Jan 13, 2014
Great value for money
Purchased this to replace and 'all-in-one' unit of similar price which recently failed. The Evo15 design has the great advantage of having the solar panel separate from the lamp unit, allowing the panel to be placed on a south-facing wall and the lamp unit in a shaded side entrance. Fast delivery, good quality product and great price - what more could you ask?
By David D on Jan 11, 2014
Brilliant little light
Great light, started working on the day of installation, even though it's winter. I've tried others, but this is the best and most versatile. Having the solar panel separately means you can position it to get the most sunlight. I bought another one for the other side of my gate.

Easy to install, and whilst you won't actually need dark glasses, the LEDs give a decent light to find the front door/get to the bins/fetch wood for the fire etc. I'd say a great product for the price, and 1st class delivery performance from Solar Centre.

Quick informed delivery, well packed and superb light, exactly as advertised. Extremely easy to set up giving bright LED light for our bin / recycle / coal bunker area (which has always been in darkness due to difficulty of connecting mains power to that area). Also, the movement detector / switch-on action is far more sensitive than I expected - excellent product!

Quick and easy to fit (in our shed). PIR sensor means no need for on/off switch which is useful when your hands are full. I am a little disappointed in the lack of brightness though.

Really bright, easy to install, major challenges was getting the sensor high enough to get decent sunshine/light in the winter in central scotland.
A could of days of light/brightness and it was ready to rock, now illuminates the shed door and the path to it.
By Ferroro D'Vano on Nov 2, 2011
I have now purchased three of these lights. Easy to install and very effective. We have one above the shed door and one above the back door. Very sensitive and worked well after one day of charging. I then bought another one for a relative who lives in a first floor flat. She was struggling to see while walking up and down the outside steps in the dark. She is absolutely thrilled as it lights up the whole flight of stairs and the light comes on as soon as she gets near to the steps. Well worth the money!
By Jeaniebeanie on Oct 29, 2011
I have compared this to my Three year old 30 LED security light in terms of out put. This is a no frills indoor out door light. The darker the corner the more impact this makes. I have twined this with a 56 LED light and my garden is bathed in light and does not require the mains light s to ba activated. it also deters unwanted visitors. You have no control over things like sensitivity and duration of lighting but that is a minor flaw. For what this is it delivers. I have evn added on at the front door and it is doing a great job. I must add that I have waterproofed alljoints on this with clear sealant as a precaution. I have no idea how long the two lights will operate for but so far so good.
By M. Agdoma on Oct 12, 2011
Bought this a couple of weeks ago to use as an indoor light for a shed in a dark corner of the garden, and am very pleased with it so far.
It was very easy to fit through the thin shed walls, and after a couple of days of charging it provides a brighter light than I was expecting (I've been very disappointed with cheap garden path solar lights in the past!). The movement sensor has also been perfect - whenever I open the shed door the light immediately comes on so I can safely rummage round inside.
I have just ordered a second one to act as an outdoor light on the same shed.
By Spurious on Oct 5, 2011
I was happy to recieve this product and left it set up outside for a day or two so it would charge from the solar panel. When charged and because of reading other reviews on this product, I then used some clear selant to fill any gaps around the lamp and around plug to the solar panel to stop any rain water getting in. I Tested and then fitted to the back of the house. The sensor works perfect and the 15 led bulbs give plenty of light for my needs.
By Darran on Oct 1, 2011
When I recieved the item my first thought was its small however once charge its great i would recommend to anyone who as a small garden
By Gemma on Sep 15, 2011
I bought this light a couple of weeks ago now,and installed it in an outside toilet in a very dark location.I put the solar cell on the roof of the building and the light fastened to the inside wall facing the door, with the hope that the sensor would detect door opening movement and switch the light on when entering.I have to be honest that when I bought this unit I didn't expect much for the price tag,but I have been really amazed at the light output and the accuracy of the sensor. It must be charging very efficiently as well. This has saved me the cost of installing an outside electric feed!!-which lets face it would have cost me a mortgage! If you're looking for a solar powered inside light that's really bright, this is the one.REMEMBER you must place the solar cell in a good place where it will pick up maximum sunlight-preferably a roof.
By Senrab on Aug 27, 2011
I bought this because of the long lead between solar panel and the light as the light has to be some way from a good light source. I figured that some light would be better than a glimmer but this gives out an excellent amount of lumens.A real bonus wes the clear instructions in English rather than Chinglish - oh and it comes with screws and rawlplugs!
By qaman1 on Jul 30, 2011
Would recomend every one to buy ok had one bracket missing but that was fixed. Very good prouduct and very good value
By J. Finnegan on Jul 28, 2011
Have now bought 2 of these, one for shed and one for garage. had tried other products before but this one really works, seems weatherproof, gives a good light and stays on while you are in sight, instead of switching off then on like others.
By Mike on Jul 9, 2011
Just a few words , If you want a solar light that works like you want it to and well then this is the product for you! Well impressed, just about to buy another to light the front door when i'm struggling to find the key hole , ENJOY GOOD FREE LIGHTING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Capt Bison !!
By Bison Bournemouth on Jun 11, 2011
I have mounted the light at the back of the house and it lights the path excellently. The light is quite focussed into a spot, but is very effective.
I've only had the product a few days now so i cant vouch for the water resistance yet. It seems to be recharging properly during the day. The PIR isnt hugely sensitive, but gets triggered when i walk within a few meters of the sensor. This is probably just about right.
The cable is quite long - nearly 5 meters - so if you plan to mount the light in another part of the property you may still be able to mount the panel in a place which gets enough sunlight.
As with all solar lighting please consider the following two points:
- If the panel will not be mounted in a south facing area then perhaps there might not be enough light in winter to charge it.
- If there is a competing source of light, eg street light or neighbours outdoor lights then perhaps you will be less impressed with this product than if you were to deploy it somewhere which is completely dark otherwise.
As it stands - after initial impressions - i would unreseverdely recommend this light, its absolutely fantastic!!
By Chaz on Jun 11, 2011
Just what i needed in my garage with no electric points. once charged goes off with movement. not the brightest light in the world but well suits my needs. will more than likely purchase another 1 for a bit extra light.
By Justin Fish on Jun 10, 2011
Very pleased with brightness of light and sensitivity of the PIR. The plastic supporting clip is a bit flimsy. Longer term it will be interesting to see how the batteries perform and the waterprofness
By Gigfy on May 23, 2011
This product works perfectly well. In view of previous reviews indicating problems with water leaks I fitted it where it doesn't get rained on directly, so I don't know if it is, in fact, water tight.
By Theo on May 20, 2011
Had a slight delivery problem - nothing to do with the item but Amazon resolved my issue promptly. Quite a sizeable unit and large solar panel but gives a good ammount of light and comes on without the need for frantic arm waving...
By GoonerSteve on May 6, 2011
Outer - Strong padded envelope.
Inner - Standard cardboard box.
Good quality hard plastic body.
Simple but effective mounting bracket.
We have had one of these lights in use since December 2008 and it is still going strong. We use it to light a dark alley between the house, the garage and a tall wooden gate. The light given is plenty to ensure that we don't step on a hedgehog or put our hands on a big furry spider when trying to unbolt the gate!
The solar panel simply sits on the flat garage roof. A matter of minutes to screw the bracket for the lamp and P.I.R. unit to the wall.
We have now obtained a second unit which is in use lighting the patio, not good for reading at night, but excellent for picking a safe route between the patio pots. One surprising thing, in 2008 it cost £24.46, now it's only £16.79.
Easy to setup, effective light when you don't want to blind your neighbours with a 500W Halogen lamp or would have a challenge to cable up a mains powered lamp.
By M. Macmahon on May 5, 2011
Received the product fairly quickly in the mail. packaging was neat, assembly was easy. have put the light up in April, whilst nice and sunny. after the first day there was ample charge for light to function. the very white light is no where near any halogen equivalent. its ample if you just want to see your way in the dark. the light is quite focussed aswell, not greatly diffuse, though as i said its ok for lighting a pathway for walking. the pir function seems to work well, responds quickly to movement. its range may be a little limited to a few metres though. all in all good buy for the price.
By Rajah on May 5, 2011
This solar light is just the answer if you want an inexpensive means of lighting up an out of the way area and don't want to go to the time and expense of wiring up to the mains supply. I've been using this light for several months now inside my garden shed. It's lightweight and easy to assemble. A sensor detects the movement of the door opening and the light instantly comes on, hence no more fumbling around, one-handed with a torch! Whilst the light unit is obviously protected from the weather(being situated inside the shed), the solar panel hasn't been adversly affected by the recent extreme winter weather conditions. I would definately recommend this product.
By Slimfox on Mar 26, 2011
This is the third PIR light and that says it all. An excellent product. The others have endured the worst of the last winter and operated faultlessly throughout. It is simple to install and does what it says it does. Just remember to charge the battery as the instructions state. Note this is not a flood light so the illuminated area is fairly small but great for lighting a path or dark corner. What would I ask for on an upgraded model? The facility to adjust the length of time the light stays on.
By D. A. Hacker on Mar 25, 2011
The mains powered PIR light on the back of the house failed which meant going out to the bin at night or the garage required carrying a torch along with anything else. This solar light provides an adequate level of light for safe passage and saved calling out an electrician resulting in a hefty bill.
It comes with screws and rawlplugs for fixing both the light unit and solar panel into walls or woodwork. We mounted ours on the wall of the house about 3m up so that the sensor had a decent line of sight. The sensor is fixed but has a decent angle of coverage from its elevated position on the house.
I strongly advise anyone purchasing to make a paper template for use when drilling. There isn't one supplied but it is simple to do and saves a lot of messing about.
Tools needed are a no.6 masonry drill bit, a hammer drill, a hammer, phillips-head (cross head) screwdriver, a decent ladder (someone else to support the ladder for any great height).
For a tidy finish you will also need some cable clips for the solar panel wire. In total it took about an hour to install.
By Mr. Michael Simms on Mar 25, 2011
When I moved house I had the advantage of being able to cut though my garage and into the back garden, the only problem was that once the garage door was closed I was left in the pitch dark until I could find my way to the door at the back - this resulted in many bruises - so when I saw this light it was a godsend.
I have no electricity in the garage and am also the worlds most technically inept person but fitting this product was a doddle - I simply placed the solar panel on the roof of the garage, ran the cable in through a gap at the top of the door at the back of the garage and screwed the light onto one of the roof beams. Whole process took less than 10 mins. Now as soon as I close the big garage door the bright light comes on, in both summer and winter (which impressed me given the lack of sunshine in the winter months) and stays on long enough for me to lock garage door and make my way through to the back.
By Elf Leader on Mar 22, 2011
This is a good value utility light it is ideal for anyone with a garage or shed that has no electricty supply, but can also be used outside as a security light. I now have two of these lights. They are simple to fit and give off an adequate amount of light.
By Dave V on Mar 19, 2011
It has dropped two stars for a design fault - 5 m of flex with no means of shortening and nowhere to store the excess. I really think this could have been foreseen as a problem and rectified. I contacted the manufacturer about this but the response suggested that they were not really interested. 3 star rating but the product has yet to prove the test of time.
By AndyDoc on Mar 18, 2011
For its price this is a good product, easy to install and to date no problems with performance.I would recommend it for access areas only, its not that bright but for the price and ease of use, it's still good value if you understand its limitations.
By AJW on Mar 6, 2011
It has just arrived. I ordered on the Thursday evening and it was put up on Monday evening. Good service. By the way I live in Spain! How's that for speed? And anyone who says it isn't worth the money, well: what do you expect for such a low price!
By Orellanita on Feb 25, 2011
his light is much, much better than expected. The beam is powerful and the switch on response is very fast. It gives a light you might expect from a mains powered item.
By Poodler on Feb 21, 2011
Wanted a basic solar powered light to attach to the outside of my garden shed which sits in splendid isolation at the bottom of a fairly long garden. Wanted one to enable me to use keys in the dark & discourage visitors. This does the job very well. It's a fairly concentrated beam but more than adequate for my purposes. It's very simple to set up. Fitted it at the beginning of November and it's working fine (Jan. 17th) having experienced wettest, snowiest winter since records began(?). I was aware of several reviews indicating non-waterproof nature but so far, that hasn't been a problem. If it is, I'll let you know.
By Azineddie on Jan 17, 2011
I have purchased two of these lights. One to provide light for my carport and one to provide illumination for my front door.
Both perform extremely well. In cloudy and overcast conditions they tend to suffer a bit on light output, but otherwise they are as bright as a button.
I am well pleased with my purchases.

The Solar PIR Utility Light has a powerful 0.6W solar panel that charges the high capacity battery during the day. At night the Solar PIR Utility Light lights up as soon as it detects motion and turns itself off 25 seconds after motion stops.
Using it as a Solar Security Light:
Simply position your Solar PIR Utility Light outside and postion the solar panel facing south. After dark the Solar PIR Utility light will light up as soon as it detects motion.
Using our 15-LED Solar PIR Light as a Solar Shed Light:
Install your light inside your shed and postion the solar panel outside (usually on top of your shed). When you enter your shed the PIR Utility Light will light up automatically and turn off again 25 seconds after you leave.
Frequently Asked Questions
I bought an Evo15 light a couple of years ago. It has stopped working. Could this be because it has been so dull that the battery has run down completely? If not, any idea what the problem is?
By C Rower on Feb 18, 2014
If it is a couple of years old then it is entirely possible that the battery has finally died. You cannot replace the batteries in an Evo 15 Solar PIR Utility Light.
Do these PIRs have a guarantee? I bought 2 about 1 year ago and one of them no longer lights from the sensor, although it can be switched on manually (which doesn't really help!). Can I get a replacement?
By Stewart Archer on Feb 14, 2014
All of our lights are covered by a 12 month guarantee. I would recommend checking when you purchased the lights exactly and contacting the office to complete some troubleshooting: Returns@TheSolarCentre.co.uk
I bought a PIR out side light some time ago. How do I charge it up?
And do I need to depress the button for it to charge?
By jas on Jan 28, 2014
Plug the panel firmly into the socket on the light and mount the panel in an unshaded location. The light will charge in the on or off position.
Once fully charged are the 16 hours retained for future use, over a number of days, or is there some 'seepage'?
By Robert on Jan 25, 2014
There's some drain from the batteries if the light isn't being used, mostly from the PIR working to detect motion. This drain is deliberately very low so the light will work for many consecutive dull days once it's had it's initial base charge.
is it possible to override the PIR sensor for continuous light?
By Danny on Jan 24, 2014
The light will stay on for as long as there's motion however there is no way of overriding the PIR sensor with the Evo 15 Solar PIR Utility Light.
Can this light be switched off but still connected to the panel?
By Darius on Jan 24, 2014
The Evo 15 Solar PIR Utility Light can be switched off and remain connected to the panel.
Is it possible to extend the duration the light stays on, i.e. from 25 secs, to 120 secs?
By Issy on Jan 24, 2014
The length of time can't be adjusted however the light will stay on for as long as there's motion in front of the sensor. If you want to adjust the length of time the light stays on for you may want to consider the Evo36
Is this light IP rated?
By Linden on Jan 24, 2014
The Evo 15 Solar PIR Utility Light is IP44 rated.
