What sort of rechargeable batteries are used? Are they Nickel metal hydride, lithium, AA cells, 18650? You state they are not replaceable but if they are a standard type & size then I would certainly have a go at replacing them myself if/when they eventually fail. Thanks

These are AA batteries (NIMH) in a sealed pack and soldered in, which is why we do not recommend changing them.

unfortunately we only have this light with PIR
Not a question but praise. We have had two of these in our hay shed for six years, yes six years! They stopped working in the spring, we will be investing in two more next pay day. Brilliant stuff 👍

The light will only activate in the evening when the solar panel is in darkness.
I see that the batteries will run out after 2-3 yrs but are they replaceable or would I then need to buy new lights? Thanks

I want the pir light on the front of my house but I need to position the solar panel on a south facing aspect of the house. Will the light still function if I extend the lead by 30 metres?

The light would work but the longer the distance between the panel and light the greater the resistance (less charge). Might be worth testing the charge you get without extending the distance.
I've bought 2 of these lights in the past and both have now stopped working. Can you tell me whether the batteries that are in the unit eventually run out of rechargeable power and if so, can they be replaced?

The batteries will eventually run out but should last a good 2-3 years.

The Evo 15 does not stay on. It is a security light design which activates when somebody triggers the PIR. We would recommend having a look at the spotlights for one that stays on.

Bought an EVO 15 solar security light. Wanted to order 3m ext. cable but picture on your website shows different connections on the end of the ext. cable to the single jack plug on my light.

The Evo extension cable was designed to work with the Evo 36 and 56 Solar Security Lights which has a jack with a screw part for added waterproofing. You can use the extension cable with the Evo 15 Solar Security Light but the connection is not a screw type and will only push in.

Our other Solar Security Lights offer the option to change the length of time the light stays on for. These tend to be a lot more powerful than the Evo 15.

You cannot change the length of time this light is on. The light will, however, stay on all the time it is detecting movement.
Hi, I'm in a rented property with a garage that I use for storage. It has a metal "lazyman" metal door. I go into the garage in the evenings for short periods of time & wonder if this light will be okay? I need to mount the light on rear wall of garage. The garage is closed all day so not sure if the sensor will know if its day or night so not sure if this light ideal?If not can you recommend a cheaper equivelant? Thanks Barry

This would be suitable. The sensor for day and night is in the solar panel. The light will not activate if there is sun-light (or alternative light like a street-lamp) shining on the solar panel.

We do recommend leaving it to charge for 3-5 days before using, especially at this time of year when there isn't a great deal of sunshine.

the light goes on for 25 seconds after detecting motion. If I need to use it as a shed light, how can I keep it on all the time

The light will stay on continuous all the time it is detecting motion. This can wear out the battery if it is done too often, hence why it is not designed to stay on for long periods.

The light has an override off switch. The unit will still charge in the off position.

Will the PIR motion sensor & dusk sensor work in the presence of other abient lights? i.e. street lighting.

The presence of other lights can affect this unit. So long as it is not shining directly on the solar panel or PIR it will be fine.
Hi there, I've purchased two of these lights and had them charging all day today however they still do not want to light up? I know it says 3 to 5 days just wondering how often it really takes this long to charge?

Can the light be positioned in low-light areas? We wish to mount inside an open porch but the location , although an open area, does not receive direct sunlight.

The solar panel needs to be positioned in direct sunlight. The light part does not need direct sunlight.
I bought an Evo15 light a couple of years ago. It has stopped working. Could this be because it has been so dull that the battery has run down completely? If not, any idea what the problem is?

If it is a couple of years old then it is entirely possible that the battery has finally died. You cannot replace the batteries in an Evo 15 Solar PIR Utility Light.
Do these PIRs have a guarantee? I bought 2 about 1 year ago and one of them no longer lights from the sensor, although it can be switched on manually (which doesn't really help!). Can I get a replacement?

Plug the panel firmly into the socket on the light and mount the panel in an unshaded location. The light will charge in the on or off position.
Once fully charged are the 16 hours retained for future use, over a number of days, or is there some 'seepage'?

There's some drain from the batteries if the light isn't being used, mostly from the PIR working to detect motion. This drain is deliberately very low so the light will work for many consecutive dull days once it's had it's initial base charge.

The light will stay on for as long as there's motion however there is no way of overriding the PIR sensor with the Evo 15 Solar PIR Utility Light.

The length of time can't be adjusted however the light will stay on for as long as there's motion in front of the sensor. If you want to adjust the length of time the light stays on for you may want to consider the Evo36 .
