10A Solar Charge Controller

FAQs: 10A Solar Charge Controller

Frequently asked questions

Is a charge controller recommended for the GEO1?

Asked by Richard Greenwood on 29 Dec 2017

Generally, the GEO 1 doesn't need a charge controller due to the size of the solar panel. GEO 2+ need a charge controller to stop the overcharging. We'd only recommend a charge controller for the GEO1 if you thought you'd frequently overcharge the battery.

What causes the reset to be tripped? I have had my unit for a few years and have misplaced the user manual. I'm trying to work out why I need to keep pressing the rest button.

Asked by Jackie Griffiths on 24 Apr 2017

It may be as a result of low charge in the battery. Leave the system off for a few days of good sun and then try again and see if the problem persists.

Why is this not recommended when purchasing the GE02 system?

Asked by James on 5 Apr 2016

The panel strength isn't sufficient enough to warranty needing a charge controller. The controller is there to ensure there is no over-charge and this is not likely to happen on the smaller kits.

is this rated for 50W consumption or production. I have a 240W solar panel and want to charge a battery to run 3 12v 9W LED lamps in a stable.
