FAQs: Arch Solar Motion Light

Frequently asked questions

Can the light stay cintinuous at night rather than sensors.

Asked by Linda Manley on 7 Jun 2019

These are PIR (sensor) lights only.

Is the top and front grey and the underside white?

Asked by Mary Taylor on 4 Mar 2019

The Light is white both top and front.

I want to fit the light over an external door which receives very little direct sunlight, can the charging system cope with this?

Asked by JAMES WALKER on 20 Nov 2018

We wouldn't recommend this light for that type of location. We do have many security lights with remote panels that the light can be in a shaded area and the panel in a different location.

I only want the light to sense within 1.5 metres so it doesn't turn on everytime anyone is walking past my house. Is this possible?

Asked by Amy Duffield on 10 Nov 2018

The range on this light is 5m and isn't adjustable. We don't offer any lights with such a short range. Our SMD range has adjustable sensitivity.

I might want to use this to light up a small area of patio (about 2x2). Would I be able to fix it to fence? Would the light stay on if people were sitting in the vicinity or would it keep flicking off every 30 seconds?

Asked by Ken on 8 May 2018

It's motion activated so likely to go off if people are sitting. Might be best try one of our wall lights or maybe the Eco wedge elite which has a remote?

I want to put this light above my garage door. Would it light up the area infront of the door and down the driveway or will it just shibe straight down

Asked by Scott on 26 Jan 2018

The arch is designed for downlighting entrances, gates and doorways. You may want to look at our SMD or Wedge ranges to light more of the driveway or have additional lights along the drive.

Will the light work in winter?

Asked by HCG on 10 Dec 2017

Yes, the Arch will work fine on a south facing unshaded wall.

Can the angle of the PIR sensor be adusted - so that it picks up motion very close to the light unerneath it, instead of motion 5 metres away outside the boundry of a property

Asked by CEH on 30 Nov 2017

The Arch will detect motion up to 5m away so will still detect motion close to the light.

Where is the solar panel please. No picture of that? Is it curved over the shape of its 'roof'. It would be inspirational if so as it would track the sun in my east/west running garden! (PS: You do need to highlight that info on all solar products because location and angles are key with solar).

Asked by Jes Holmes on 25 Nov 2017

Many thanks for the feedback. The Solar panel is flat on top of this light, we looked into a curved panel and it's currently not cost effective to add as the flexible solar panels are more expensive and less efficient at charging.

Does the light turn off completely after each 30 second activation or does it dim down but stay on like your 'Curve' solar motion light?

Asked by Mark Wilson on 24 Nov 2017

The Arch turns off completely after each activation. We'd recommend avoiding any lights that have a dim mode in between activations as in the depths of winter you may find they don't activate when you need them too.

Can you tell me what the light is made of ? Is it plastic ? Thank you

Asked by Trish on 19 Nov 2017

Yes, the light is made of plastic.

Does this light need direct sunlight to work? Thanks Ian

Asked by Ian on 13 Nov 2017

The more direct sunlight the better but this light doesn't need direct light to charge. The amount of charge needed will depend on the number of triggers. A high traffic pathway/door/garden would need more direct sunlight vs a low trafficked placement.

How is the light fitted?

Asked by Liz on 24 Sep 2017

The light head has two slots at the back to attach it to a wall or fence.

there is no direct sun light under my porch so how can we charge during the day time..can we take the top of and put it in the sun light???

Asked by savita w'ton on 24 Sep 2017

You would need to take the entire lights off the wall and place in the sun. We would recommend a light with a remote panel for the situation you have described.

Can this light be set to "on" as opposed to motion activated?

Asked by Julian on 13 Sep 2017

This is only a motion activated light. For no motion activated please look at our wall lights or spotlights

Hello, In the event that the batteries need replacing, is the replacement process straight forward? Are the batteries in a battery holder or are they soldered on to the solar panel connectors? Thanks

Asked by Allan on 13 Sep 2017

The batteries are easily replaced. 180650 Li-Ion Rechargeable battery type.

Hi can you tell me the lights dimensions please? Thanks

Asked by Julie on 6 Jul 2017

Asked by Chris on 24 Jun 2017
