Frequently asked questions

Is it possible to buy two Internal 12v 3Ah NiMH Battery - 36Wh for these units? The units are not in use during the summer - would the batteries in the units last any longer if the panel was disconnected from the light or covered up? Many thanks Kind regards

Asked by Joan Livingston on 14 Dec 2016

Hi Joan, This product has been discontinued

I bought one of these but the remote control stopped working and now I've lost it. Where can I get a new remote control? Thanks.

Asked by Mike on 25 Oct 2016

We haven't stocked this light for some time and don't have any spare remotes. The best thing I can suggest is to try replacing the battery in the remote you have there.

Hi, is it possible to use this in the day (light is in my shed) without disconnecting it? So as it keeps charging.

Asked by Shaun McCarthy on 31 Aug 2015

There is no way to use this in the day without disconnecting the solar panel.

You can purchase the replacement here

Hi, what light would you recommend for a 24ftx16ft garden shed. In use quite enough as a gym and workshop. Would the motion detection light be better? Which gives off the best light?

Asked by Paul Murphy on 18 Feb 2015

The best option for this will be one of the Geo Kits , probably the Geo 2 or the Geo 3 depending on how much use the shed gets.

Is there any way I can externally charge the battery?

Asked by Mike Falgowski on 7 Jan 2015

It is not possible to externally charge the battery.

could I use the flood light in side a 24' x 12' field shelter.

Asked by Sally on 11 Dec 2014

Yes. This light would cover that area and more.

I dont want something that will stay on all night just 5-10 minutes at a time Does the remote control version do this as i dnt want to uspet neighbours but have horses and will be down very early?

Asked by sharon on 3 Nov 2014

You use the the remote to turn the unit off after 5-10 minutes. Alternatively you could have a look at the Astron 64 Solar Security Light which is basically the same light but works on a PIR sensor.

how can I change the batteries?

Asked by hilmi bilgin on 25 Oct 2014

Please contact the office for a quotation. The batteries are not on the website for purchase yet.

Hello, is it possible to fix the light and solar panel to posts as I want to light a path where there are no walls or buildings to fit them to. Thank you

Asked by Rachel B on 11 Oct 2014

Yes, this will be fine with this light.

What distance does the floodlight beam luminate? If I have a 25m x 50m outdoor riding arena how many floodlights would I need to light it

Asked by Aoife on 25 Aug 2014

The floodlight will cover 30m out from the front of the unit. I would recommend 3 units for your project.

Is an extension cable available for this light

Asked by Amanda McLaren on 19 Aug 2014

The extension cable is here

Can I manually switch this on and off?

Asked by Marc on 10 Aug 2014

There is an over-ride off switch. The light will still charge while in the off position but it will not shine at night.

Dear sir could you tell me how long the battery pack on this solar light last I will be using it in a hot country.

Asked by Mohammed yusuf on 3 Jun 2014

We have customers who have used this light in a hot country with no problem.

Regarding my previous question i need a light that will stay on (as in the solar floodlight) for as long and as often as i like but also when im not about that will come on with a motion censor?? will a bigger solar panel with the 64 solar security light work???

Asked by Tony on 12 Feb 2014

The Astron Solar Floodlight has a lux sensor. This means that in automatic mode it will turn on when it gets dark enough (if you are not there to click turn it on). We do not currently manufacture a light that does both jobs but I will pass your suggestion to the design team.

Can this be fitted with a motion sensor like the cheaper model

Asked by Tony on 11 Feb 2014

This light cannot be fitted with a motion sensor. Modifying the unit would invalidate the 12 month warranty period. I would recommend the Astron64 Solar Security Light if you want one to activate on motion.

Where can I buy a replacement internal battery pack for this unit?

Asked by N Douglas on 7 Feb 2014

You would need to contact the office via e-mail or by telephone to purchase a replacement battery pack as this is a specialist item.

What functions and range does the remote control have please. Can it be turned on and off at will during the course of an evening? Thank you.

Asked by christine flanagan on 6 Feb 2014

The remote control has a 50m range to turn it on and off. You can turn it on and off at will during the course of an evening.

Hallo, we are looking for solar floodlights to replace halogens to light our 20x40 outdoor school. Please can you recommend the best lights for the job?? I have been looking at the Aston flood but its quite pricy & wonder also about Evo 56. The lights need to be weatherproof as we live in wet west Wales!

Asked by Christopher on 23 Jan 2014

The most cost effective way of doing this job is going to be with the Astron Floodlight . It's more expensive then the Evo 56 as it can stay on for longer and therefore needs bigger batteries and a more powerful solar panel to keep it running. The Evo 56 is great as a motion activated light but isn't designed to stay on continuously.
