It would be quite difficult to get it to stay secure due to the back part of the light, I would suggest a flat surface.

Hi Elaine, a nail may be a little too weak to hold the light up
I know it's screwed to the wall, but are the screws on the back of the light or to the side.

Hi are you able to power this of a remote solar panel? I need a light similar to this ( or more traditional as it is for the back door of an old cottage ) to illuminate a step are that is north facing and behind the building so I need a remote panel to charge it, thanks, sean

The solar panel for this light is integrated. I would suggest looking through our security lights for ones that have a remote solar panel, such as the Shield and the EVO range.
