FAQs: Curve Solar Motion Light
Frequently asked questions
How long does the battery last before it needs replacing
Asked by Robert Walton on 18 Nov 2018
We would expect 3-5years but many customers have had them working for far longer.
Can these lights be fitted onto the metal gutter on a Caravan? Fed up with keep purchasing inferior lights from other sites
Asked by Carol Martin on 24 Oct 2018
The only issue I can think of is the angle of the gutter/light. I'd suggest testing one with a clip first.
Do you sell spare batteries for the curved light if not what size are they
Asked by HarryWilson on 11 Jul 2018
Sorry we don't sell spares currently for the Curve Solar Motion Light.
What's the range in metres of the motion sensor?
Asked by Jackie on 18 Jan 2017
The sensor will detect motion up to 3m away.
Do you make one that clips onto the gutter it would be a lot easier to fit
Asked by William Lee on 8 Dec 2016
We don't at present. We've had customers successfully fit this light to gutters though with small screws and silicone to seal the holes.
Hi Do these lights work as well in the winter as in the summer? Thank you
Asked by Lynne on 7 Nov 2016
The Curve works well all year round, provided you don't install the light on a north facing wall.
Will the PIR sense movement from the side as well as the front of this unit? What is the total included angle the sensor detects movement at ?
Asked by Robert Williams on 10 Nov 2015
The PIR will sense movement from the side as well as the front. The sensor points downwards and will sense up to 3m.
Would the light be triggered by strong winds?
Asked by D Yule on 14 Jan 2015
It shouldn't do. No.
I Hallo, I don't have Standby-light. Only dark or full . What is wrong? Thanks. Klaus
Asked by Klaus on 13 Jan 2015
These lights were changed earlier last year to only work on activation. They no longer support the standby-mode.
Where is the PIR mounted and waht is its detection area
Asked by Jim Simpson on 2 Dec 2014
The PIR is underneath and towards the front of the unit. Range is 3m.
Is there an on off switch ? We can't get it to work ? Thanks
Asked by Amanda on 27 Nov 2014
The on/off switch is the little hole to the left of the PIR sensor (white bubble underneath). You can turn it on using the tiny pin supplied with your unit.
Could you confirm the colour of this unit, is it a chrome/silver or is it white ?
Asked by Ian Starr on 18 Nov 2014
The top metal part is silver. The bubble part underneath is white.
Is there a minimum installation height required for the sensor to pick up movement effectively? For example, we are thinking of mounting them on a fence which is no more than 5ft tall at it's highest point!
Asked by Annaliese Goede on 31 Oct 2014
You won't have any issues there at all. We've had customers use them at around 30cm above the ground, while this does reduce the detection range, they will still pick up motion.
what type of battery and are they d,i,y replaceable?
Asked by barker on 25 Oct 2014
You cannot replace the battery in this unit.
This light looks really good, but how do I know if the wall I want to fit this on is south facing? I want it to light the front of my house covering my front door and am woried it might not be and the light wont work.
Asked by ak roper on 17 Aug 2014
There are a few mobile phone apps for compasses or you can use Google Maps.
What is it about the glow mode? Some people mention that it is always glowing and goes brighter when it is triggered. This is not mentioned in the description and I would imagine that it depletes the batteries quickly. Can I switch this off? I only need light when somebody is there.
Asked by Christian on 31 Jul 2014
This light no longer has the dim function as it was a big drain on the battery life. It will only turn on when activated by the PIR.
Hi, does the solar panel have to have been in full sun as I am not sure my requirement would meet this i.e I am not sure it would ever be in the sun. Thanks
Asked by Amanda on 12 Jun 2014
The solar panel needs to be receiving as much direct, unobstructed, sunlight as possible.
Hi, Any idea how many lumens it emits please.

It is estimated at 80 lumens.

Does the curve solar motion light have a movement sensor built in?
Asked by Martin on 23 Jan 2014
Yes, the PIR is mounted under the lip at the front to detect motion.
How deep is the light from the wall plate to front edge? and how wide an area does it illuminate and how long does it stay on for when triggered?
Asked by Michael on 23 Jan 2014
The Curve is 130mm deep. It illuminates an area of up to 10m sq metres and stays on for 30 seconds when triggered - It will stay on for as long as there's motion.
Will it come on every time a car goes past.? The road is about 20feet away from garage.
Asked by Robert on 23 Jan 2014
It won't pick up motion that far away. The max distance is approx 4m, this varies a little depending on the height the light is installed.
Can the Curve Solar Light be positioned on an outside wall unprotected from the weather?
Asked by Peter on 23 Jan 2014
Yes, it's IP64 waterproof so can be installed in exposed locations.
