how waterproof are the solar fairy lights, others i have bought have taken on water then rust and do not work this is usually on the part with the solar panel with the batteries in it.

The fairy lights are waterproof. This unit can be used outdoors without any water ingress problems.
Can the rechargeable batteries be charged up independently of the solar panel?--IE by mains elaectricity

They are AA rechargable battery, so they can be placed in an appropriate batteyr charger if need be. Please do check that he charger is capable of charging those batteries and it is compatible.
Where are the AA rechargeable batteries because the solar spike device seems too slim to have them located in there?

We recommend the panel to be in as much direct sunlight as possible, so uninhibited by any foliage or shaded spots. Theywill charge but you will find that they will have a shorter run time in winter, as they do not have the powersaving mode or back up USB charge.
Does the solar panel have a fence fixing?

The Elan range only comes with a ground spike. Our Lumify range includes a fence fixing.
Doesn't say any where how long the string of lights are. I know there's 100 of them and I know the lead cable is 2m but I don't know what length of actual fairy lights I'm getting?

The entire cable is 12m in length, 2m to the first bulb then one bulb every 10cm thereafter.
I'm looking for lights that I can place inside shed on the ceiling. Could I use these if the solar panel is placed outside thanks

Yes, but please bear in mind the lights won't operate during the day while the solar panel is still picking up charge for the battery.

Yes, our Elan range will work in winter but our Lumify fairy lights work better due to a larger panel and USB back up.
