The lanterns are robust plastic and the "windows" are open.

Question:

What is the recommended way to attach the lanterns to a garden fence, I was thinking of the small white clips with a small nail that electricians use, I would obviously be very gently when putting the clips on, but you may know of something better which doesn't involve a hammer.

Answer:

The clips you mention could work really well. Small nails/screw with calble ties can work. The best option without a hammer (what I use) is the screw in hooks. You just screw them in by hand. DIY shops have all different size and colours.
