If the panel is getting as much direct sunlight then yes it will be ok to be hung in this way. However if it causes it to be more hidden from light, then please do not.
What is the distance at which the Evo SMD elite light detects motion? In your FAQ most replies state 8 metres. However in the reply to Pat Coulson 2/3/17 it says 15 metres

I presume the PIR can be turned off as I need it to work off of the remote control only.

Hi Pete, the lenght of the cable from the light to the panel is 5meters. We do have an extension cable that is 5 meters. please bare in mind if you choose to extend if further by 15meters this could deplete the brightness by 10 %

The PIR determines this so it is possible for the light to activate even if the panel is in bright sunlight if the light itself is located in a dark spot.

We would not recommend the panel or any panels to be in a north-facing location. You are able to buy extension cables here so you can place the panel somewhere more favourable.

Yes, this will work in the way you have described. You just need to adjust the lux sensor on the light head and that will trick the panel into thinking it is darker than it is and the light will work even though the panel is outside.

As long as the panel is outside the light unit will charge. Please make sure to adjust the lux sensor on installation, the panel will detect light and the light will not respond to motion if the panel is detecting the light.
I'd like to either mount the panel on a vertical wall or flush to my pitched roof, so is the angled mounting bracket for the panel removable, enabling me to manufacture my own tailored mounting bracket for the roof or if not, can I mount it on vertical wall meaning the panel will be upside down?

The brackets are not attached to the panel, they come separately, so there is the oppotunity to fashion your own. Please note though that this could invalidate the warranty if not properly secured and the unit/panel break.
What is the detection distance? I want to install at 1st floor eaves level, will detector activate with movement at ground level at some distance?

The EVO SMD Elite has a 120-degree detection range of up to 8m, however, this can be reduced using the dial on the underside of the light, to reduce the sensitivity. You can move the PIR up and down and left and right, so will capture most things. It is a bit of a case of trial and error as to which setting will work for you as it depends on the height where it will detect.

This switches on in the dark but is only motion activated. Our wall lights staying on all night or until the battery needs recharging.
Is it possible to add an ON switch for when working outside at night. I've looked at your remote operated one but it doesnt have a sensor and the lumins are only 350.

No, you could max out the activation to 3mins. The main reason the remote controlled is only 350 Lumens is to allow if being on for longer periods of time. 1,400 lumens the panel we have to be very large for it to work.

The lights in all the SMD range are a natural white which is slightly warm.
Can you get a remote control with either the 1400 lumen or 700 lumen as I need them to stay on longer then 3 mins but don't think the 350 lumen one would be bright enough. Also does the remote one (350 lumens) only work with the remote or does it have sensor as well. Thanks

In the SMD range, the RC is the only version that offers a remote. The main reason it's 350 lumens is that it allows users it keep it on for longer periods of time. We do have a different style of security light at 1000 lumens with a remote which has 5 Modes. Eco Wedge Elite

With all the SMD range (SMD,Pro and Elite) the battery and panel size is optimum for the Lumen output. I'd suggest trying one out and if you are BBQing many days in a row to buy a second unit. The other option is to look at our GEO kits.

The Evo SMD , Evo SMD Pro and Evo SMD Elite solar panels are all interchangeable so yes you could use an Elite (1400 lumens) Solar Panel with the Pro(700 lumens) version. Having said that we've had no reports of the panel supplied not being suitable for the job in all but the most demanding of commercial installations where the light may be activated more often at night. Having said all that we don't have any spares at present for the Elite so I can't offer you just the solar panel.
Is it possible to wire two of the Evo SMD Elite solar lights into one larger solar panel?

This isn't possible, what some customers have done is simply site the two panels side by side, the aluminium frame is thin so at a glance it looks similar to one panel anyway.

The PIR is built in so the only option you have for extending the range is to adjust the sensitivity of the PIR via the dials on the underside of the light.

The Astron 64 was around 120 Lumens but the area that was illuminated was comparable to a 150w mains halogen that we used in our warehouse. When this product was launched less was understood about Lumens so we described the light in a way that would help the majority of customers understand its performance. The EVO SMD, SMD PRO and SMD Elite are all brighter than the old Astron 64.

This is a security light as opposed to a floodlight so will only activate when motion is detected and can not be left as constant on. The product does include everything to operate in the box so PIR, light, battery and panel.

These lights do have an on/off switch on the underside of the unit so can be turned off when light is not required. When in the on position the light will illuminate whenever they detect motion.
