You only have to turn them off for a base charge when you first recieve the lights for 3 - 5 days other than this you can leave the lights on they do not need to be turned off.

The Firefly lights come with a plastic bulb and the prongs are encased in a reinforced plastic, which would prevent water ingress and therefore rusting.
