Hi, can the batteries be charged any other way, i.e mains or USB? It looks like the solar panel cannot be placed separately from the light, and I need to place it where there wouldn't be loads to direct sunlight.

The solar panel cannot be placed separately from the light. We would recommend the Selene Solar Landscape Spotlights in this instance.
Are these cool white or warm white? How does their lumen output compare with the Helios solar spotlight?

This is warm white. It is slightly stronger than the Helios.
What is the power of this light and does it have on and off switch?
