Can I use my wheelchair battery which is 12 valts 10 ah.and another is 12 valts 14 ah.thanks from ayub
Asked by Ayub malji on 29 Nov 2023
Hello. We would not recommend using parts from another source.
Hi Could you tell be if the geo3 comes with an usb port so I can play music from my phone please.
Asked by Ian on 22 Jul 2023
It does not, unfortunately.
Please can you tell me if it's possible to extend the cables between the pv cell and the battery without significant power losses, and how long the cable that is provided is? Many thanks
Asked by Mary-Jane Tyrrell on 22 Oct 2021
Hello, it is yes, you already get 10m of cable, but there is a wiring kit to add more wire on. Please look up tsc wire and it will come up in the search bar.
Hi, would a standard 75ah leisure battery suit this kit as I have one already. Or would I need to order one from your site. Many thanks
Asked by Josh lindley on 26 Jul 2020
This should be fine
The video shows the system being wired with a voltage controller, but this isn't shown in the kit. Is this needed? What would happen if we didn't have one? What are the benefits of using one? Which one would you recommend for use with the Geo 3?
Asked by Sarah on 28 Mar 2019
The GEO 3 comes with a charge controller. You need a charge controller with this size of a panel as without one it would reduce the lifespan of the battery.
Hi, I realise you do a PIR sensors, however my question was whether you do a PIR security light, clearly external?
Asked by Oliver on 25 Sep 2017
We don't sell a single unit security light for the geo kit but each part separately. You can make from parts of your choice. You could connect to PIR to a Floodlight like this one . Hope that helps.
Hi, do you sell a PIR security light that can be added to this lighting kit?
Asked by Oliver on 24 Sep 2017
We have one here
Can 12v downlighting be used instead of the bulb holders supplied?
Asked by Garry Williamson on 6 Aug 2017
Yes, you can use any bulb holder, and any 12v bulb.
I have a Geo 3 kit and want to add another solar panel; one to get the morning sun, and the other to catch any late afternoon sun. Both panels are in shadow from about 11.00am - 2pm. Can I just wire them in series?
Asked by Gilbert Sharp on 2 May 2017
Yes, you can add any other 12v panel into the system, just make sure you wire them in parallel to the battery.
Why does the mains-free lighting kit need a car battery? Can the solar panel, placed on a roof in full/partial sunshine (light cloudy day), provide the real time power; is the battery just for prolonged use at night (when working in my office at back of garden).
Asked by Ellen on 18 Oct 2015
The solar panels will charge up the battery, which in turn then powers the lights day/night. It does not provide real time power.
Hi there, Can this kit use extra solar in series with each other and batteries in parallel ? So that a mains invertor can be used to power more items for example mobile phone chargers and other 240V items?
Asked by James on 1 Sep 2015
Yes
Hello, what type of battery is needed? Will a normal car battery do, or does it have to be a caravan battery? Basically I have no idea - what should I ask for when I go into a shop? Thanks for your help
Asked by stef on 30 Mar 2015
We recommend you use the batteries from our website. If you decide to go elsewhere we recommend a deep cycle leisure battery (like a caravan battery) and try to match the Ah number.
Hi - is it possible to have the lights wired as 2 separate (independent) circuits (e.g. for use in a two-room shed)? If it is possible, what additional items are required - I realise a second wall switch and more cable but is anything else needed? Thanks
Asked by Euan on 20 Jan 2015
Yes. It is possible. You would just need some extra cable and another wall switch which we sell in the accessories page.
hi, I would like to know besides using this for lighting. Could it be used to plug a tumble-dryer to the kit?
Asked by Joed on 14 Dec 2014
Adding other items to this kit would drain the battery very quickly as it has been designed to run just lights. You can do it but it may not be very efficient or last long enough.
Hi, I have one of the Geo kits, got it about 2 years ago. It has 4 bulbs and works excellently. I want to be able to put my motorcycle on a battery trickle charger unit to keep it topped up Over winter. What. Can I plug it into and can it be incorporated into this system? I'd like some advice please so I can keep my bike charged using solar and ideally the trickle charger I have.
Asked by Mark Lancaster on 10 Dec 2014
We would need to know the power consumption or energy used by the trickle charger to calculate feasibility but would generally just suggest buying a solar trickle charger rather than try to add something to the kit that is working well and risk stopping it from working well.
Is this kit suitable for mounting onto a shed roof please?
Asked by Paul on 23 Jan 2014
Yes, the Geo Kits all come with roof mounting blocks for easy mounting to a shed or garage roof for example.
Does the kit include the charge controller?
Asked by Anthony on 23 Jan 2014
Yes, the Geo 3 & 4 Kits come with a 5A Charge Controller. The other kits don't need this.
Could this kit be altered to run the lights individually by adding extra switches and wiring? (for a caravan)
Asked by Richard on 23 Jan 2014
Yes, the kits are all modular so you can wire in additional switches, light bulbs, etc. as required.
