Can you supply 4 ft LED batten fittings for this kit instead of individual lamps and if so what would be the cost difference ? Kind regards Jan krygier
Asked by Jan Krygier on 12 Nov 2021
I am afraid that we do not have this option.
If I would use a smaller of your batteries could you tell me how long they would run for and also the measurements of them.cheers
Asked by alison bullard on 25 May 2018
We recommend the 104Ah which can store enough power for up to 48hrs, 12Ah would be around the 4-5hrs. You can use any 12v battery not just ours. The sizes of the battery vary but you can see them here: 104Ah 75Ah 34Ah 12Ah

What are the dimensions of the solar panel in the Geo 5 kit, and can the adjustable bracket be used with this panel - it states it is suitable for panels up to 450mm? Thanks
Asked by Tim Parkinson on 19 Aug 2017
The solar panel is a 50w panel that measures 770 x 550mm so unfortunately can't be used with the adjustable bracket.
Would I need to add the 5A charge controller to this? Seems to be included on the smaller systems. Can these be switched individually by adding more switches? Also if the operating times for the lights is around 4 hours per day could I use the smaller battery?
Asked by David Carpenter on 12 Jun 2017
We've updated the listing to note the 10A charge controller that's now included. Yes you can add more switches, it's just a simple 12v lighting circuit. We wouldn't recommend a smaller battery however you can use any 12v battery. This time of year (mid summer) would be fine however the extra capacity in the battery is designed to see you through the worst of the winter months.
Can you put a timer on this system? I would like to put it in my poultry sheds to lengthen the winter days. Also I have 5 small sheds in a row. Can I put the battery and main system in one shed and string the lights from shed to shed?
Asked by Yvonne Hastie on 14 Nov 2016
Yes, this timer is available. You can purchase extra cable to string the lights from shed to shed.
Would this supply enough power to leave a radio on all day, use the lights for a couple hours in the evening and occasionally boil a kettle at the same time? If not, can a second solar panel and battery be added to the set up?
Asked by Lexi Adams on 8 Nov 2016
If you looking at building a bigger system please contact us and we will guide you. For a radio it's really depends and the amount of power it uses, most radios use very little power so you should have no problem running one. For a kettle you'd need a 12v version and it would really using a lot of juice. You may need more than one panel but please contact us for more assistance.
can you connect an outdoor security light to this system, as well as an inverter to power drills etc? Thanks
Asked by Barrie Margetts on 29 Oct 2016
Yes, this kit powers any 12v compatible device from the 12v battery that the solar panel charges by day.
can the solar panel be roof mounted on corrugated roof?
Asked by Ross on 1 Sep 2016
Yes, however the fixings aren't included for a corrugated roof. We've had customers tell us that Corolux roof fixings from your local DIY shop have been suitable for this job.
Hi, what is the expected lifespan of this type of system, in particular the solar panel ?
Asked by Chris Coughlin on 25 Jul 2016
The Solar Panel is a glass fronted aluminium framed solar panel so should match a typical home PV installation of up to 20 - 25 year lifespan.

Asked by michael granahan on 13 Jan 2015
Distance between lights and battery shouldn't effect brightness or performance but it is best to keep wire run between panel and battery as short as possible and no longer than 8m.
