Frequently asked questions

I am hoping to install the light inside a shed with the panel screwed to the outside wall of the shed. Is the panel adjustable for the optimum angle for sunlight.

Asked by C Thompson on 5 Aug 2024

The panel is somewhat adjustable, but it depends on how you wish to angle it.

Hi, we will be using this inside of a shed, so will need it to work throughout day time and evening to light up the inside. I saw that it says it charges throughout the the day. Does this mean it will not work when the solar panel has day light on it? Thank you, Olivia

Asked by Olivia on 15 Dec 2023

Yes, you are correct, this will not work if any light gets onto the panel, this will only work in the evening. If you want to have something you can change the lux sensor on we have our EVO SMD range.

The information on the website gives the size of the Solar Panel, but can you tell me the size of the lighting unit itself please. Thank you

Asked by Steve Craggs on 28 Oct 2023

Hi Steve, The size of the light itself is 16cm wide and 10cm tall

I already have an Evo remote solar panel and extension cables. Would this light be compatible and connect?

Asked by Susan on 27 Aug 2023

Hi, It would not be compatible. EVO accessories are made exclusively for the EVO lights.

Is there an extension cable available for the Guardian Solar Powered Outdoor Security Floodlight. To get the panel in the best place I will need a longer cable to the light.

Asked by David Milner on 13 Jan 2023

Hi David, Thank you for your message, sorry to say unfortunately we dont have an extension cable for our Guardian

How does the light and separate solar panel mount to the wall? do you have to have the solar panel next to the light or are there wires that can mean it can be mounted somewhere more discreet to look better?

Asked by Ginnie Romain on 9 Nov 2021

There are two different mountings for the panel and light, there is a 5-metre black cable between the light and panel.

I wish to mount this approx. 9/10 ft. on a wall, but concerned whether the flood light can be angled downwards? My other concern is whether the motion sensor is adjustable; in the question and answer section it says "NO Sorry it's fixed." The same question Is asked later "Can the motion detector be pointed in different directions" is answered by "The PIR can be moved up and down, left and right, it will be 120 degree angle."

Asked by Gary Cant on 11 Sep 2021

Apologies, there has been an error. You can adjust the angle of the PIR sensor.

Is there any means of charging the battery if in winter it fails to charge sufficiently in bad weather, e.g.. usb. Thank you.

Asked by Ray Pollin on 23 Mar 2021

That unit can only be charged through solar. You can give it a boost by switching off the unit for 3-5 days and that will allow the batteries to build up charge.

Does this light stay on for more than 30s if motion continues?

Asked by Annabel Storey on 15 Dec 2020

Can you lengthen the timesheet light stays on from 30 seconds

Asked by Dave on 13 Oct 2020

As long as there is motion in the motion detection range the light should stay on.

Hi, Is it possible to get a long cable to connect the panel and lamp. I need the lamp in a dark area but would need a cable of about 3m to be able to put the panel in full daylight

Asked by neil on 3 Sep 2020

I am afraid there is currently no extenstion cable for this light.

Is the motion sensor adjustable?

Asked by Kevin Coenemans on 26 May 2020

Do you have a light like this that stays on not motion activated

Is this suitable to light the inside of a shed ?

Asked by Steve Nightingale on 28 Feb 2020

The light can be used in a shed, the light will only activate in the evening when it is dark outside, so no matter how dark the shed is as it is the panel which can tell the difference between night/day.

Is the battery customer replaceable when the time comes, or is the whole unit throw away like so many products?

Asked by Paul on 15 Feb 2020

The battery is not replaceable in this light. However the long life battery should give you up to 3 years of service.

What type and power is the battery. I am trying to find out if I can put these lights in hand baggage on a flight to Spain.

Asked by Philip Waters on 28 Jan 2020

It is a lithium ion battery, so we will not be able to say if this is suitable to carry on a plane, as airports have different restrictions, so it would be worth contacting the airport before you travel. Tese cannot be removed or replaced, so it is also worth checking with them that the battery does not need to be removed.

Hi, will this light work on the north face of a building?

Asked by Marcus Walter on 10 Dec 2019

We recommend the panel to be situated south, there is 5m of cable between solar panel and light so if this is sufficient I would palce the panel elsewhere, then the light can be north facing but the solar panel gaining charge poiting as south as possible.

Asked by Katie on 9 Dec 2019

Can the motion detector be pointed in different directions (left/right and upo/down) or is it fixed? And what is the angle that it covers?

Asked by Mike Simpson on 14 Nov 2019

Asked by Simon Welsh on 21 Aug 2019

Does this light have the function to stay on if required or is it just activated by motion sensor for 30s?

Asked by Jon on 27 May 2019

This light is motion activated only.

How does it perform in the winter months when sun is at it's minimum. Thanks

Asked by Kay Birtwistle on 3 Sep 2018

The light and size of the panel are optimised to work all year round in the UK.
