Frequently asked questions

Can you alter the light brightness for these lights? We are looking for something with a built in solar panel to light up three individual trees in our garden but don't want it to be too bright that it annoys the neighbours. We brought the up and down lights from you and you can alter there brightness I recall so thought I'd double check for these. Thank you.

Asked by Sara-Lee Kenney on 14 Oct 2021

I am afraid that this unit does not have a power-saving mode. You won't be able to adjust the brightness.

What are the dimensions of the 'fixing bracket base?

Asked by John Weir on 25 Aug 2021

This unit can be installed on the wall.

Is this spotlight as bright as one of the Selene spot lights

Asked by Jack Hepburn on 18 Jun 2020

That is correct, it is bright as one Selene lamp.

Can the solar panel be turned round , ie so if the light is facing down the panel can be facing towards the mounting bracket . I'm fixing to the top of a fence panel but the sun is from behind the panel ....

Asked by IAN HOLT on 22 Sep 2019

The solar panel can be only angled up and down and not rotated.

I'd like a spotlight on my front door. Because of a wall the spotlight would need to be positioned about 4 metres away from the door. Do you think this light would be effective at lighting up the door area?

Asked by Hayley Harvey on 12 May 2019

It's hard to say and subjective. You'd really need to test it see. At 44 Lumens this is the least bright spotlight we have.

Is the light sufficient to subtlety up light a tree? Easy to turn off as not wanting to use everyday more for occasions ? Thank you.

Asked by Ruth Foggin on 13 Apr 2019

This really depends on many factors, this light is 44 lumens, our spotlights go up to 140 lumens. You would also need to test if one or many lights have the desired effect you are looking for.

wil the light still charge in the off position ?

Asked by john hart on 29 Oct 2018

Yes

What is the lumen value of this light please.

Asked by Yvonne on 23 Mar 2017

The Helios is rated at 44 lumens.

Should the on/off switch be on or off during the daylight charging time.

Asked by Chris Leigh on 25 Jul 2015

The lights will automatically turn on at dusk when the button is in the "On" position. The on/off button is there for if you want to stop the automated process (for example: going on holiday and you don't want them to turn on).

Hello! What are the standard available color temperatures? Are these available in 2700K or 3000K? Thanks!

Asked by Faraz on 11 Jun 2015

These are only available in the white as per the photographs on the website.

Can these be left out all year - as ones we have bought in the past didn't survive more than two years? How long couLd we expect them to last? Thanks

Asked by Mike on 16 Feb 2015

These can be left out all year. It is recommended to leave them even over winter so they can keep charging. If your previous units have stopped working after 2 years I would recommend checking the batteries as these may need replacing.

- Can the spotlight be fence mounted? - Will the light charge when the override is set to off? Thanks.

Asked by Calvin on 2 Oct 2014

The spotlight can be fence mounted. The only thing to consider is whether the solar panel will get enough direct sunlight in this position. The light will continue to charge when the override is set to off.

Does this light have a manual over-ride 'Off' button? Enabling the light to be off when i want but will still charge.

Asked by Marc on 23 Sep 2014

Yes. This light does have a manual over-ride off button.

Hi - I am looking to use the Helios Solar Spotlight over my car port. Does it have an inbuilt motion sensor? Thanks! Simon

Asked by Simon on 4 Mar 2014

The Helios Solar Spotlight does not have a motion sensor. It does have a lux sensor that will turn it on once darkness falls. If you want a light that works on a motion sensor I would recommend having a look at our security lights.

I am looking for something exactly like this but with coloured light rather than just 'white'. Can the bulbs be changed or can you recommend another product with similar price?

Asked by Ricky on 23 Jan 2014

You can't change the bulbs however a lot of customers have recommended adding a piece of cellophane over the front of the glass to change the colour of the light that's projected.

Does the solar panel require direct sunlight to operate or does it charge in daylight conditions?

Asked by Mike on 23 Jan 2014

It operates best in a south facing location that is unshaded although it will still work well in overcast conditions.
