Hi, the item should go of automatically after 7 hours if it stays on longer it is most likey lights are hitting the panel causing the timer to reset.

Hello, we do not recommend to store it away for a period of time as the battery can deplete.
Can the battery holder be taken off the reindeer/sleigh to charge inside? Thanks
