FAQs: Lumify USB Solar Fairy Lights - Multicolour 100 LEDs

Frequently asked questions

I bought these for Christmas and would like to put them away until next year. Should I periodically charge them throughout the year so the battery doesn't go flat. Many thanks.

Asked by Annette Anderson on 13 Jan 2024

Hello, The lights are weather proof so can be used all year around, you shouldn't store them away over winter as the battery can deplete so much that they will not turn back on.

Hiya, could you tell me if your solar lights are weatherproof and waterproof. Thanks mark

Asked by Mark sutton on 13 Oct 2023

Hi Mark, our light are weather proof but not waterproof so submerging them would not work.

Do you sell an extension cable that would allow the solar panel to be further away from the main lighting string ? Thanks, David Hales

Asked by David Hales on 5 Aug 2023

Hi David, We dont have an extension cable for this light unfortunately

I'm putting these in a gazebo and as it's darker in there (solar panel outside in sunlight) I would like them to come on during the daytime - is this possible?

Asked by Elaine on 11 May 2021

The lights will operate if you disconnect or cover the panel. However, we do not recommend that. It is best if you use them as per instructions.

Hi. I want to put the lights underneath two wooden arches. This means that the sides of the light will be more visible than the top/tip of the led. Was wondering if the sides are as bright as the top if that makes sense? Thank you.

Asked by Andy on 11 Aug 2019

The LED light is reflected around the bulb outputting in all directions (side on and up top). Hope that helps.

1. Are multicolour available in 300 LED? 2. FAQ says 300 have larger battery than 100s BUT description says both have 18650 type? Please explain. 3. Do 100s glow brighter or longer than 300s if same battery? Thank you.

Asked by Peter Watmore on 14 Oct 2018

1, Multicolour are only in 100s 2, Both batteries are same size 18650 but milliamps are 2,000 on the 100s and 2,600 on the 300s 3, The battery output is the same so the lights will be the same brightness.

What is the drop length for each light. I'd like to start stringing them above my gate which has a post above but I don't want them to dangle below post. Also what is safe to secure them to wooden fence without damaging wires? Thank you Janie

Asked by Janie on 29 Jun 2018

The length of each light unit including wire is approx 3cm. Many customers use hooks or cable ties to secure the string.

Will you be getting the 300 LED Multicolour fairy lights back in stock anytime soon? The 100 are not quite long enough for my garden

Asked by John Roan on 8 May 2018

There aren't any plans to introduce a 300 LED multicolour option at present.

I need a replacement battery for this set and cannot see the item for sale

Asked by Alan Walder on 9 Oct 2016

The battery should not need replacing on these yet which is why we do not currently offer one for sale. In this scenario it is best to contact returns@thesolarcentre.co.uk to go through some trouble shooting and should a replacement battery be the solution they will provide one for you.

Just purchased a set of these lights could you tell me if there is a guarantee with them please.

Asked by Christine Kilpin on 21 Dec 2015

All of our lights are covered by a 12 month warranty from date of purchase

The text implies that to use these lights from a USB source (ie indoors) you need to remove the battery. Not sure why this should be? I want to power them from a USB source but while outdoors - can I not leave the battery in and use USB to keep it automatically topped up?

Asked by Brian Winn on 7 Dec 2015

These lights can be charged via the solar panel or via USB. If you intend to use them long term indoors you have two choices. You can USB or solar charge the battery to full, disconnect the panel or USB cable and operate the lights as required from the tube. Alternatively you can remove the battery and leave them plugged into a USB cable that will power the lights direct.

What is the length from the first bulb to the last and do you supply the multicolour with 300 LEDs?

Asked by Ian Smith on 3 Nov 2015

It is 10m of lights with an extra 2m back to the solar panel. We are only doing multicoloured in the 100 length.

Can you join more than one set together without losing power/brightness?

Asked by Dave Clark on 8 Sep 2015

You cannot join the units.

Can the LED attachments, dragonfly, butterfly etc. be used with these lights ?

Asked by Tony Davis on 8 Aug 2015

The attachments on our website can be used with all of our fairy light brands. Yes.
