Frequently asked questions
Hi, I have just purchased two power saving tops for my already purchased London lights. What is the process to charge these tops and what does the P and S setting on the switch do? Do they need to be left switched off for a few days in direct sunlight before switching on? There were no instructions in the package.

We recommend giving it a charge (3 to 5 days) before use but this is not required. It is mostly to give the battery a good recharge before draining it. The P and S settings are new. One will do the normal amount of power and the other is the powersaving setting, which works at less power and brightness but will go for longer.
Hi, I have a 50 cm globe garden light that just won't work even though I have replaced the battery . Would this item work inside a globe light ? If not have you any suggestions what I could replace the solar part with ?
Asked by Catherine Staddon on 16 Apr 2015
This would not work. The sun needs to get directly on to the solar panel and when the light is on it only projects downwards.
Will the standard Canterbury wall light come with these improved duration power saver tops as standard.

This is not currently available but is something the directors are considering.
With the Power Saving Top only using half the power, does it still provide the amount of illumination as Solar Post without the power saving top?
Asked by Tony Matthews on 14 Nov 2014
The illumination is slightly less as it is using less power. However, it isn't a massive difference.
are the power tops better at recharging in low day light winter use than the standard top ,the two i have only work in full sunlight and are very dim without the sun this is no use with the weather we have. regards john

They charge about the same (same spec PV panels) but with the power-saving tops it uses up to half the energy. This means you will get more time out of the charge.
