The leaflet that came with my light refers to turning the light off at the switch so the unit can recharge and also to charge it in full sun for at least 12 hours before using (ie switching it on) for the first time. I can't see any on/off switch. Is this just an error on the leaflet? I have model SC2216 Saltwood Solar Shadow Light.

There is a green tab that you will need pull out of the battery section and this will then activate the light. This is in the top of the light, if you remove this and then turn it upside down.
I have just received my Saltwood Solar Shadow Light. Do I remove the green tag in the battery compartment before charging the light. The instructions tell you to turn the unit off before re-charging but there is no on/off switch.

Hi Jill, Please do remove your tag as the light will not recieve any chagre to the light or give off any power to the light. The light does not have a switch on or off button it just turns on automatically. Please leave your lights out for 3 to 5 days in a south facing position and they should charge well.
I just got a pair of these and the illumination is quite low after having been charged. Is there somewhere to adjust the brightness? I saw mention of the ability to maximise the power to suit summer or winter conditions?

Hello, the adjustability here refers to power saving mode and standard mode, which means the lights on standard mode are as bright as they can get, whereas power saving mode is more appropriate to use during the winter as it makes the lights run on less charge by making them dimmer.

Denise, This light does not have a on and off switch, it just requires 3 to 5 days of charge and works dusk till dawn
How are these placed in the ground, are they freestanding or do you dig them into the ground via a spike
