Can this light be just switched on and off by the remote control ? So it has no other lighting up otherwise.

I am unsure I understand the last part of your question, but this can just be turned on and off by the remote control if you wish.
Can the cable be extended? If so, does it have a maximum length?

Sadly this cannot be extended.
how long Is the cable from light to panel?

Hi Josh. There is 3 metres of cable between the solar panel and the light.
Can you just have this on remote control mode and no sensor?

yes you can, we have to 7 different modes to choose from which allows you to have the light on from dusk till dawn.
