Frequently asked questions
If I wanted to connect the inverter you sell to the battery how would I do this? The inverter is shown with a car adaptor fitting. Is there a socket on the side of the battery for the car adaptor to fit into?
Asked by Hu Barucki on 31 May 2017
The inverter has a male "car cigarette" type adaptor and the battery just has a standard output designed for crocodile clips. We recommend you get a female version to connect to the battery then on to the inverter. We can not recommend that you cut the adaptor off and connect to the battery but this should work too.
I have a geo 5 system in a lambing shed with a 75 Ah battery. To extend the life of the charge and to help when I have to mains recharge can I just add another battery, same size to system.
Asked by Paul on 4 Mar 2017
Yes - this will double the duration the system will run for between charges. Alternatively you could double the panel size which would charge the existing battery twice as quick and may prevent having to do any mains recharging of the battery.
Thanks for your last answer. If the battery drains down, can I charge it using a normal car battery charger? Also, does letting it drain down damage the life of the battery?
Asked by stef on 31 Mar 2015
You can use a normal charger to give it a boost. Letting it drain down can damage the life of the battery. The solar panel will trickle charge the battery and keep it going.
Hello - I found the batteries. I want to use this battery with the Geo 3 - in a shed that I only visit twice a year. Will the battery drain down over that time, or will it hold it's charge? thanks
Asked by stef on 30 Mar 2015
The battery will drain down over time if it is not being charged via a solar panel.
