It depends on how much sunlight reaches that area during the day. I would just look at shadowing there or leave one as a trial before fully installing.

How many of these lights do you think I would need for a decking which is 5.5m x 3.5m Don't need lights all the way round

In lamans terms am i correct in whats required once the lights arrive 1..Charge lights up in the off position for 3 days 2. Cut a 97mm hole with a hole saw into decking. 3. Turn on lights after 3 days and place into 97mm holes 4. Leave lights turned on and lights will come on at dusk & turn of automatically at dawn 5. Replace batteries after how long??

That is correct. The batteries may need changing after 2 years minimum.
The diameter of the hole to be cut is 97mm but hole cutters do not come in that size. Would a 100mm hole cutter be to big. I am aware that they can be screwed down so the question is whether a sightley larger 100mm hole would be within the tolerance as the outer edge 120mm
Asked by Neil Whitehead on 4 Jun 2021
Customers have used jigsaws to create the correct hole.

Looking at these for a decking 3metres by 3mertres. How many would you suggest? Don't want it too bright but noticeable. How far should they be spaced out?. Looking at these or square ones which ones look best?
Asked by Belinda Plater on 18 Apr 2021
Sadly we cannot give details on far apart they should be placed, this is all down to personal preference and how the space looks, so any shading trees etc. The best bet is to buy 2 and work it out from there.

Can these be mounted vertically or do that have to go flat on the ground? I'm thinking of using them in our front garden to illuminate the driveway. As they're not suitable for being drive over, I was going to mount them on the walls that run down either side of the drive. My concern was that the sun won't hit them for long enough portions of the day if they're not pointing directly towards the sky?
Asked by Ross Matheson on 14 Mar 2019
We wouldn't recommend them being vertical as it's likely that the panel wouldn't receive enough light.
I would like to put these in a garden bed. Would they be OK
Asked by Penny Campbell on 7 Nov 2018
You can't put them directly into the soil as these lights need good drainage but you consider making a base for them with maybe a gravel drainage area underneath.
I plan to fix these into the side of railway sleepers for a lit up finish to my raised bed. However they wont get much sunlight due to the position in the garden. Will the still charge in natural daylight or do the require the adequate sun rays?
Asked by Chris C on 1 Aug 2018
It's not something we'd recommend - this time of year (summer) you'd be fine however performance will suffer in winter months. The Edinburghs would be a much better bet as they have a remote solar panel.

I have a block paved driveway and paid for 6 spotlights to be positioned , 1 in each corner and 1 either side of the entrance. After only 4 months , they stopped working and the cost of the repair is very high. I am wondering if the circular decking lights would be suitable since they wouldn't actually be driven over and would be a cheaper alternative ? Many Thanks , Alison

The round decking lights are not suitable for a driveway. Please take a look at our Paverlight Solar Brick Lights which have been designed for vehicular traffic.
