We strongly recommend charging the light for 3-5 days in as much direct sunlight as possible before using. This will help charge up the batteries, just incase thye do not have much charge in them.
Can this solar lantern just be set to be white and not rotate the colours?

Yes it can be set to one colour using the remote included.
Hi, what's the brightness of this light please? Do you do a lumin measurement - that would be a great help. We have a large tent so I need to make sure I have enough.
