The above unit has an on/off switch button next to the PIR sensor.

The range cannot be changed, this has a 5 metre range.

The Slate detects motion up to 5 metres away, so to test this properly you would need to buy one and just hold it where you are thinking of installing it and test it.

I would like to use this to light up my garden gate area. Would I be able to angle it slightly upwards so the solar panel faces more towards the sun?

Answer:

It is not possible to angle the light more upwards, this is predominantly a down light and any tilting will reduce the spead of light below. If the location you are looking to put the light is north facing or heavily shaded please look at some of our lights with separate solar panels. Click here and select 'remote' on solar panel type and it will give you some further options.

What is the colour temperature of this light?

The Slate is a natural white colour.

Will this work on a North facing wall?

We do not recommend putting this light on a north facing wall. It will work but may not last very long in the winter months. If you think the area the light is in has low traffic (low number of triggers) per night then it could be an option. 

Question:

does the slate switch off during daylight hours?

The Slate only illuminates after dusk and once motion is detected. It won't operate during daylight hours.

Does this give off more light than the eco wedge elite as the light seems much brighter in the outdoor photograph used for both lights.

10 seconds of activation does not sound like much. But maybe I've misunderstood. Will the light stay on for as long as there is movement in the area?

Is the motion sensor sensitivity adjustable on this model as we have some shrubs which will be less than 2 m from where we want to install it ?

No this lights is only triggered by movement. Our wall light range is our always-on lights.

Question:

I am looking at this light for my small porch which has a door each side. I think the best place to position it would be above one of the doors. Would the motion sensor be activated by movement below it as a person is approaching or opening the door it is placed above? Thanks!

The motion sensor will trigger underneath this light so sounds perfect. You have mentioned a porch, you must make sure the solar panel has as much direct light and isn't blocked by a porch roof etc.  

Question:

Would this (or any of your other solar lights) work if it is positioned underneath a 10mm clear perspex roofing sheet rather than in direct contact with sunlight?

Answer:

All our lights would work but it would reduce the charge time and the output. If the roofing has UV protection it would reduce it even more. I'd suggest looking at our remote panel lights so you could position the panel outside and have the light inside.

Question:

I want 2 of these lights either side of a door, is there a minimum distance they have to be away from each other.

Answer:

The panel is on top and the light is a down light so shouldn't be any problem but the light could reflect and hit the other panel but very unlikely. I'd suggest testing them first before fully installing them for the best location.

Question:

Is the solar cell on top or is there another unit with this and the battery in. What type of battery does it contain. Does it allow fixing on guttering

The solar panel is on top of the unit and has a Li-ion battery. It has a flat plate at the back you can screw to a wall, shed or fence which the light head slots on to. We don't sell any lights designed for guttering, but you might be able to make it work.

Is there a non motion detector version of this available?

When triggered is it adjustable for how long the light stays on, or is it preset ? If so how long is it on for. Thanks.
