No, modern windows are designed to block out up to 99.8% of all UV rays, and solar lights recharge by converting UV light to energy.
Is the top piece actual glass? Therefore easily breakable?

The lantern is made out of toughened plastic, and therefore quite sturdy.
NOT GAS! I am looking for Indoor solar lights after being powered by the sun/daylight, please?

This light only has the appearance of a gas lantern. It does not use gas.
