Where do you fit the screws? It's not clear in the instructions and I'm looking to fit them horizontally to the mortar in my brickwork.

The screws gho onto the back plate of the light, so should be installed as pictured.
It's not immediately obvious how this attaches to the wall and the instructions aren't especially clear. Can someone explain how the back plate attached to the wall when there are no holes?

Try these steps please: 1. Remove wall mount bracket from light by unscrewing decorative bolts on the front of the light. 2. Screw wall mount on a flat surface (wall/fence etc) 3. Place light over wall mount bolts and secure in place with decorative nuts.
I need a porch light that I can remotely switch on from inside the house before I open my front door into the porch. OR A porch light that has a pull cord for on/off that I can operate as I enter the porch from the house. In either case I don't need motion detection.

This unit won't be suitable. Please look into the Beam light. It comes with a cord. Please note that the panel cannot charge the batteries via the window and it needs to be placed outdoors in direct daylight.
Is the solar panel on the top part of the light or is it a separate item with a lead linking to it?

The panel is integrated into the top of the light.
Does this light have an on off switch please. I want one that I can leave on if I am on patio and turn off if I am not. If no do you have another model you would recommend. Many Thanks M

The light has an on/off switch. This underneath the top part of the light, so you need to unscrew the top of the light to turn it on/off which, depending on the height might be troublesome. Maybe have a look at our remote control options, these can be found under security lights

Yes they can, please bear in mind the higher the mAh the longer they will take to charge, they must be 1.2v and rechargable.

would this give enough downlight to illuminate a doorway to see lock if mounted above?

You would need to test it, the base of the light head doesn't allow light downward but out from the sides. Many customers use them either side of doors.
Will this Solar light work on a easterly facing house wall or will that not get enough sunlight to charge sufficiently? Does it need to be on a southerly/westerly position? Thanks.

For the best performance, we recommend southerly facing wall but some customer do use these lights on east/west facing walls. You may need to use powersaving mode even in the summer, it will depend on how much sun gets to the panel.
Can the battery be replaced and is it easily available to purchase in local suoermarkets / stores

The lights is designed for outdoor use so shouldn't be a problem. This is the only light in the style so is brightest we have. For brighter lights take a look at our spotlights or other wall light designs. Our security light range offer PIR and generally are much brighter too.
Hi, what does the "S" and "P" stand for on either side of the "off" switch?

With the switch in the S position the light will operate in standard mode. Moving the switch to the P position will substantially increase the runtime of the light whilst slightly reducing the brightness of the light.
Where is the Solar Panel? Is the sensor direction sensitive, can it be directed?

The Soalr Panel is built into the top of each light. This light doesn't have a motion sensor. It will come on in the dark and charge in the light.

This will turn on at dusk. It does not have a PIR sensor.

This is a decorative light only. It is approx 3-5 watts.

Yes. Normally the light would turn on as it reaches dusk. You can turn off this function by switching the unit "Off."

The lamp does not work during daylight hours because it is charging. It should highlight the close proximity.

It is about the same as a standard porch light. It is designed to work in winter. The solar panel is no bigger than a standard cereal box.

An SMD bulb is a Surface Mounted Diode. It looks like a little yellow square and is the new LED type. We can deliver to Europe. The cost is based on the weight and where to exactly. The website will calculate the cost when you place the order.
