Like all solar products this is very useful and effective item for the shed or garage. My only gripe would be that in a dark environment finding the switch in order to switch on the Vortex light is particularly difficult and could do with some sort of reflective tape or light in order to locate it.

2 | 0 Initial delivery of the light via DPD arrived as scheduled, but the charging panel was broken. Photo evidence was requested and sent and replacement received via Royal Mail in good condition. After charging, the light works satisfactorily, but has limited illumination and unfortunately won't function if the solar panel is receiving charge. OK therefore at night but not in the day when illumination is sometimes needed to see in the shed.

The swivel solar panel mount appears to favour horizontal fitting due to the angles available, however, I chose to mount vertically on shed rear wall and can only point the panel skywards to a fairly shallow angle, but hey-ho, it works anyway. It will probably be at the right trajectory for a low winter sun when the time comes - swings and roundabouts. A movement sensor on/off switch would improve it still further.

1 | 0 Looked at quite a few solar lights before picking this one because I wanted to light up the Tack Room Door which makes it easier to unlock and lock when lit up in these dark morning and nights. I chose it because the light needs to be under a roof at the front with the solar panel on top of the roof. It fits and works perfect with the long cable between them a big help. It also arrived very quick.

2 | 0 Arrived promptly and my husband fixed it easily inside my horses' field shelter 14' x 12' so I can see what I'm doing when I feed them early morning and in the evening. Only issue with fixing the LED is that the On/Off switch is at the top of the light and it would be much easier if it was at the bottom. Good tip from Timmy G to pull the cord out if I want to use the light when it is still charging! Otherwise perfect for what I need it for.

Only issue I can foresee, as some others have commented, is that it won't work if there's a bit of daylight sufficient to be send ing charge from the solar panel, but it's simple enough to unplug it from the light if that does happen. A pull cord which automatically disconnects the solar panel would improve it, but it's fine as it is. Overall very pleased!

1 | 0 I'm using this as a security light inside a building, with the solar panel on the roof, and the light inside. So when it gets dark, a light is on inside the building which is visible behind the closed blinds so it looks like the place is occupied (by an insomniac!). The light either eventually goes out when it runs out of power in the early hours or turns itself off at dawn when the solar panel senses daylight. Perfect for the job, and a decent price given the quality of the build. Recommended.

1 | 0 I was a little concerned about this light not being bright enough before I bought it, but I am very happy. I bought 3 and use each one in a different shed. They all work well and give more than enough light to feed the rabbits, feed the horse and put my push bike away. As general lights they are great, if you are trying to read or do fine work, you may struggle. The lights are simple to install. I have only had the lights for a week and cannot comment on their longevity. They came well packaged and worked straight out of the box. The only improvement would be to make the rechargeable batteries more accessible so that they can be replaced when needed.

1 | 0 Does what it says on the "tin". I find it irritating to read reviews from those who clearly do not understand how these lights work. Those that complain about unplugging the solar panel to make it operate have not understood that if the panel is charging theh battery, i.e. there is sufficient daylight , then the light is designed to remain off. It will come on when the panel is not charging the battery, i.e it is dark and illumination is required. The company needs to provide further education in its advertising material to help the non-technical users.

Bit frustrating needing to unplug solar connector for light to operate, but I can live with it. Good value and solved a lighting problem in a very quick and easy fashion.

Thanks for the review, you only need to unplug or cover the solar panel (to simulate night time) if you need to turn the light on during the day. At night you can operate it via the switch without needing to touch the solar panel.

0 | 0 light is well thought out, giving the option to have less illumination (but longer from the available charge) mounting bracket for the panel is also cleverly hinged (allowing corner mounting). One odd feature: the push button mode switch (allowing the choice of: inner ring of LEDs, outer ring of LEDs or both) has a fourth option = off - which is superfluous given the separate rocker switch giving overriding on-off control. Incidentally, the black rocker switch is a bit tricky to find on the ceiling in a dark shed (and the light is very bright if you are daft enough to be looking up when you find the switch!) but not much to solve this other than take a torch with you. would be good to have this lamp arrangement with a PIR option Perhaps a better use for the fourth click of the mode switch: three modes of on permanent (of differing brightness as currently) and the remaining option give you a short blast of light when the PIR detects movement - that way you could have it detect you coming into the shed and then you could switch to permanently on for the duration of the time in the shed. PIRs inevitably seem to be on-off-on-off or else adjusted to then stay of for ages longer than needed! - hence why I chose this for inside a shed rather than the otherwise excellent (PIR activated) EVO15, like I have in an external location) (As also mentioned by James Murray on Nov 24, 2016) I too received a unit with the solar panel with the ball joint (between panel and mounting bracket) sheared off in the box. This was VERY quickly resolved (in spite of the Christmas busy period)following one email to the Solar Centre team - excellent customer service (but think a bit more cushioning inside the box might save a few more panels in transit) Overall, great product, good customer service and a good price too

One it used in our rabbit shed and the other in my husband's home brew shed. They're great! We can now easily see (with the dark nights) in both sheds. There are three settings and brightest is very bright. I only need the lowest setting for the rabbit shed and can still see really well. Would recommend!

1 | 0 When I received the light the adjustable plastic support for the panel was broken. It was obvios what had happened, as the joint had been tightened up and had snapped when trying to flatten the assemble for insertion into the packaging bag. I phoned the Solar Centre and was told it would be repalced, unfortunately it took a secong call to get one posted. I await its receipt in the next couple of days. The staff at the Solar Centre were most courteous. It would be worthwhile Solar Centre reviewing the hinge design as a minimal design modification would make the product much more robust.

I contacted customer services to see what I could do and after sending a photo of the broken light they sent out a replacement straight away . 2 | 0 This light was bought to light up the shed for the winter months whilst cleaning out/feeding the guinea pigs etc. Whilst it hasn't actually been used yet, it was very easy to setup. Once the required time for its first charged was reached the light shone bright! The free delivery service was excellent with regular updates and crucially for us the ability for the parcel to be left somewhere safe. I would highly recommended the light and thesolarcentre.co.uk.

2 | 0 I bought this to light my wood store. Despite delivery being cost free, it still arrived by courier at a pre-arranged time with email updates. The light and solar panel seem very robust and installation was a doddle. Left to charge for three days in overcast conditions, it nevertheless provided impressive levels of light. Dropped one star for packaging. A bag of fitting screws had lodged against the solar panel, leaving a dimple in it. SolarCentre customer service were first class and offered to exchange it. Once I was sure it worked OK and hadn't punctured the veneer I decided to keep it. On the basis of product quality and customer service I would by from SolarCentre again, and will recommend them to others.

1 | 0 The light is used in our bedshed...where we spend the summer nights....and is excellent for reading and crossword puzzling. In transit there had been some damage to the panel but a quick call meant that a replacement was soon on its way. Highly recommended .

Only works when it is dark though, so if your shed is dark during the day this product may not be a suitable choice (it will work if you disconnect it from the solar panel,ok if you are using it for a few minutes to look for something but not much good if you are using it to work in as when it is dissed from the panel the solar charge will run out). All in all though impressed with the light it gives out . Easy to install, make sure you pull the centre part out to enable you to slide it through the fixing clip, this was not very clear in the instructions.

0 | 0 I bought 2 of these for our large gazebo here in France that we use for pizza nights and BBQ nights for our holidaymakers. As the summer draws to an end it gets too dark for them to sit out much later than 9pm so some sort of lighting was needed. It's a large building of 6m x 4m and just the one light was enough! It gives out a lot of bright white light that can be adjusted using the 4 settings. Really happy with it - the other one will now get use in the shed!

1 | 0 We have 2 of these lights fitted in our bunny lodge. One to leave on at dusk till dawn and the other to use as a working light to feed, clean and see to the animals during the dark. I was really supposed his bright the light is, I've recently had to hand feed a sick bunny in the middle of the night and the light was bright enough to allow me to do this. And the extra button to change the light strength is great. Amanda

1 | 0 Bought one of these for my shed, not expecting too much. Easy to install and light is really good. Surpassed my expectations. Have since put another in hay barn (12x12ft) and it light this area really well. Only down side is the fixing for the light as others have said is a little wobbly. Excellent value.

The light unit tends to wobble, so I have secured with three screws to hold it tight. This is only a minor issue. I would use this company and recommend to others. When I first bought a solar security light from them I was a little sceptical on how it would perform in the winter, but found them to be great so what was I worried about? Nothing? The new light has now lost it's movement sensor which was one of the main requirements in my previous light.Even though the light has a larger solar panel and a selection of 3 outputs I do miss the movement sensor, a change I did not pick up in the advert.

Thanks for your comments John, you may be confusing the Vortex with the discontinued Porch Light which has the same body shape as the Vortex but featured a motion sensor.

Has converted my dark 24 x 12 hay barn into an easy place to work again, now that winter has come. No sun now for a couple of weeks and the light is still going strong, even though I keep it on for over an hour a day. Brilliant in more ways than one!

The parts were very robust looking and the solar panel is possible to angle get the best possile position. 0 | 0 I have purchased this for a small 7ftx6ftx6ft shed and have placed it just in the entrance facing down, so that the switch can easily be accessed and with hope that it illuminates the whole shed. When I put it up yesterday it was dead flat, and with the rain and grey clouds all day today I wasn't expecting it to produce much light until a couple of days... but I was very much proven wrong with the power of these devices; it lit my shed up like a Christmas tree inside. There is a button to switch on and off, and a button to select three different settings for which rings of lights you want on. Not a light I would purchase to work in, but it is more than bight enough to illuminate the area whilst I get a few things in and out of the shed.

0 | 0 Perfect. After getting advice from the sales team I decided to buy the Vortex solar light for our bunny hotel that has no electricity. Darkest damp November and I left the unit to charge for a few days and bingo! We tried it last night and it's really bright! The light won't work during the day when there is light unless you disconnect it from the solar panel. But remember to plug it back in. Works great in a 9x9ft summer house.

2 | 0 just set up waiting for the sun to do first charge only point I would make is unlike other solar lights I have got this does not work from a fob you have to place it so a switch can be reached makes it slightly awkward as it is being used in a field shelter so you cant use it till you go inside.

0 | 0 This unit is a good idea ..the problem is the switch ,this is part of the light and very small..so needs to be where you can reach without groping in the dark..also the fixing bracket is not impressive..the light will rock every time the swich is used..this unit is basically good and very useful.

When I took the light out of the box and read the instructions, I noted that there was a small charge in the battery so I naturally tried to turn the light on and nothing happened. However, after three days of charging, the light worked brilliantly! It's now in our field shelter and helps us to do all our equine jobs in the dark. It was easy to fit the solar panel to the outside of the field shelter and easy to fit the light inside (remember to push the middle disc of the light inwards as this helps with fitting). Overall I'm delighted and have been using the product for over week now with no problems.

0 | 0 I did a lot of internet searching and review reading before I lit upon this (excuse the pun)! I had particular requirements about lead length, non PIR and this ticks all the boxes. It is located in a car port at the rear exit of the house. It is easy to operate. My only suggestion would be to amend the fitting instructions to make it clear that the outer part of the light can be moved in relation to the inner.

Our roof is quite high and as yet not been able to find a suitable mounting place, it's on the wall at the moment, the only place we can reach. Any ideas anyone?

2 | 0 I bought this light for our summerhouse which is at the far end of a large garden just to extend our use of it after dark. It was very easy to install and I was amazed how bright the light is! The option to vary how much light you have is very good and there is LOTS of cable to position it just where you want it. I discovered that by pushing out the centre core (which has the support bracket on the back) I could adjust the placement of the on/off switch and the power connector for easier access. The exterior solar unit has an adjustable bracket which can be fitted in various positions to receive maximum light. I would certainly recommend this lighting unit, it just works - very well.

4 | 0 I bought two of these lights for my 7.5 x 3.5 horse shelter so that I don't get tampled in the dark. Not only were they very easy to install, they also light up the whole space much better than I'd anticipated. I'd expected a low level of light that would still need a head torch for fiddling things but these lights are as good as real electricity! So pleased I'm going to try the exterior lights next. :-D

2 | 0 This is the 4th Solar light I have bought for my stables as I have no electricity. It has enough light to muck out & groom with. Really bright, even after just 2 days charging. Can highly recommend for a 12' x 12' stable. My only issue was with the packaging, which may not be the company's fault. Light box was squashed & damaged & the bag it was in was ripped, but the light & panel were fine.
