Hi What is the USB-C port on the back of he unit for? Nothing in the manual about this, yet it comes with a USB cable? Regards, Seumas
Asked by James Morrison on 22 Nov 2025
Hello, The USB port on the back of the light is so you can charge it by USB in the witer months as a back up when we do not get as much sun.
There is nothing in the instructions on USB charging. How long does USB charging take to fully power the unit and how do you know when the unit is fully charged? The elite unit appears NOT to have been pre-charged when it arrived and all 4 yellow LEDs lit up when I first plugged the USB charger into the unit.
Asked by Steven Arthrell on 21 Nov 2025
Hello, Please USB charge the light for 4 - 6 hours.
Hi, if I buy multiple units will one remote be suitable for them all or do I need to have several remote controls?
Asked by Philip james on 20 Nov 2025
Hello. Yes the remote wil work on all units.
Our eco wedge elite keeps coming on and staying on. We have cleaned the solar panel top and that helped for a while but it keeps happening. Remote can't get it to go off either last night.
Asked by Heather on 6 Mar 2024
Hello, It sounds like the light is set to Mode 3 (red indicator light on). Please switch to mode 1 or 2 if you would prefer the light to be exclusively motion activated.
I want to use the light on remote only, with the PIR disabled. One FAQ answer here says it cannot be done, and one says it can! Could you illuminate my confusion, please? Thanks
Asked by Mary on 9 Feb 2024
Hello, You would have to use Mode 3 (red indicator light on) in order to make the light turn on and off at will, however please note this makes the light run at medium brightness. Mode 3 means that ater dusk the lamp illuminates at medium brightness and turns off after it runs out of charge or 10 hours, whatever comes sooner.
Would like this fitted to an East facing wall, so no sunlight after midday, would this work?
Asked by Andrew Kirby on 27 Nov 2023
I would strongly recommend that due to the integrated panel that this should really go on a south facing wall if possible or one that receives direct sunlight for a good portion of the day.
I have just purchased this model. If I leave it to charge is there an indicator light to confirm the light is fully charged ready for use
Asked by K Foley on 17 Nov 2023
Hello, there is a charging light - It states: Charge Indicator Lights After pressing the ON button on the remote, during the day, you should see the yellow micro LEDs to the bottom left of the diffuser lit up to indicate charging is taking place.
Does this need direct sunlight to charge as I have had mine out for three days and it isn't working ☹️
Asked by Gill on 9 Nov 2023
HI Gill, Lights in the south facing position would recieve the best charge. Just to check if the lights need to be repositioned. We would suggest to sewitch the light off for 3 to 5 days but please them in a position that would have lots of sun and turn them on. This way it will be clear if there is a fault with the light or its location
Hi, What is the warranty period or the Eco Wedge Elite. You are giving excellent information on this light. Thank you David
Asked by David Gilliland on 6 Nov 2023
Hi David, All our lights have a 12 month warranty
Is there a recommended distance the PIR needs to be away from a condensing boiler flue, so the exhaust doesn't trigger the security light when the boiler starts up?
Asked by Richard Pickston on 16 Oct 2023
Hi Richard, There is no recommended distance I guess a couple meter will be safe for any extra moisture
Why does my remote not work with my light? I have removed the plastic from the remote.
Asked by Julie on 18 Apr 2023
Hi Julie, Thank you for your question. When you receive your light, please charge your light up and switch the light on by the button. You will then be able to use your remote from then on.
Is this battery powered as well as solar? Or have you got any lights that have both options for when solar power is low?
Asked by Laura on 19 Jan 2023
All our lights have batteries in them so they are solar powered as well battery powered.
The sensor is described as PIR which normally stands for Passive Infrared. If I am reversing my car onto the driveway will it detect the motion of the car without the benefit of the heat from the engine bay?
Asked by Howard Price on 28 Dec 2022
So any motion detected including heat in the distance of 10 metres will come on, this is included your car coming into the driveway it will turn on.

Hi Keith. The angle is approximately 120 degrees and can detect motion from up to 10 metres away.

Asked by Sorin on 11 May 2022
Hi Sorin. The batteries in these units cannot be changed or upgraded. I would suggest looking at one of our more powerful security lights.

Will this light be suitable for inside a glass porch?
Asked by karen Hodgson on 10 Nov 2021
We do not recommend any of our lights to be installed behind glass. The UV protection on the glass will stop any meaningful charge to the light.
Will this light be suitable for inside a glass porch?
Asked by karen Hodgson on 10 Nov 2021
Hi Karen. As this light is a solar light, it will require direct sunlight on the solar panel for the batteries to charge. Your light will not charge correctly behind a glass panel.
Do these give warm or cool light?
Asked by Greg Moyes on 13 Jul 2021
It has white led bulbs.
Would this still work installed on a 6ft high fence ? As cannot drill into house wall ( landlords instructions)

We do recommend testing the light on the location that you wish to place it, prior to going through installation.
whats the recommended installation height and spacing between fittings for a continuous spread of light
Asked by Ian on 2 Mar 2021
We do not have a recommended spacing between lights, this is all down to personal preference. The higher the unit the PIR will pick up from a different point.

We would not recommend installing the light in the situation you have described, the light is screwed to the wall.
I've bought the eco 1000 to help with cctv do I fit it below or above security camera
Asked by Paul kerr on 14 Sep 2020
This is not something we can advise as we do not know the set up, as you have purchased one, just test it above and below to see what gives you the result you would like.

My patio is about 4metres wide by 2.5 metres deep. Will this light illuminate the patio well
Asked by W.Weekes on 30 May 2020
This light is 1000 Lumens. It covers a distance of 3 parking spaces approximately. It would be best to test the light on the location prior to installing it to make sure that the position is right for your needs.
Hi, can I use this like a normal light, turn on & off when needed and not just when the pir is activated?
Asked by Lee Strike on 5 May 2020
There are different modes, one is where it is on for an hlour, but it is primarily a security light.
Is there a way of adjusting the level of light output? Could I set it up to only come on medium light when detecting motion, for example? Will I be able to use it constantly on medium for an evening? Thanks
Asked by Kait on 23 Apr 2020
You can use: Mode 4 (yellow, blue and red indicator lights on) After dusk the lamp illuminates at medium brightness. It switches to Mode 2 after the battery level drops below 60%. If the battery level is below 60% when selecting Mode 4, then the lamp will automatically switch to Mode 2. It would not be constantly on.
I'm looking for something like this but that I can have on my decking so if I'm sitting out there can I make the light stay in with the remote if i want and then turn it off with the remote aswell
Asked by Darren on 16 Apr 2020
The only mode you would be be able to use is the one hour mode, the rest are motion activated. So I would maybe look at our EVO SMD remote control flood light here
Will the remote operate more than one light? I am thinking of having 2 or 3 on a pathway and would like them all to come on at the same time.
Asked by Alan on 10 Jan 2020
Yes, one remote can be used on all the lights.
I'm intending to install the 'Elite' light on my front drive which is about 4 meters long from the south facing house wall where it will be fitted to the boundry connecting my drive to the public pavement. Will the PIr pick up movement from people walking past as well as traffic passing by?.
Asked by Peter Anastasil on 29 Oct 2019
Detects motion up to 10 metres away so any movement within that range facing the pir will trigger the light.
What please is the range of the remote control?
Asked by J F Hogwood on 25 Jul 2019
Infrared remote control included with up to 8m range
One reviewer wrote," it would also be handy if the waterproofing guarantee applied for different orientations". Is the light fully waterproof on a south elevation facing the prevailing south westerly weather in central England?
Asked by Philip Smithies on 3 Jul 2019
The lights are designed to be installed flat on a vertical wall. We had one issue where the customer had installed them upside down which the light is not designed for, the panel wouldn't get enough light and water resistance is not designed to be upside down either. You will not have any issues installing the light panel up on a vertical wall.
Hi, Is there a setting where this light can be completely off during the evening / dark hours and only activated when motion is detected? Or is there always some sort of light emitted after dusk? Many thanks, Chris Edwards.
Asked by Chris Edwards on 1 May 2019
Mode 2 (blue indicator light on) When motion is detected after dusk the lamp activates at full brightness and turns off approx 15 seconds after motion stops. Recommended for Winter use or if the light is installed in a substandard location.
What is the ideal height for the lights to be installed?
Asked by Sarah Norcup on 14 Mar 2019
It depends on how much light spread you need and the detection area needed. Generally, security lights are installed around 1.8-2.5m off the ground.
hi, can you confirm this doesn't come with a separate solar panel? Also, do these lights charging capacity perform better when east or west facing (assuming no obstacles, shade or trees)? south facing installation is not an option for me, too close to the neighbour's house.
Asked by Ian O'Flynn on 25 Jan 2019
The solar panel is built into to the wedge at the top. The Elite comes with 5 modes, in winter months we would suggest using the PIR only mode. For East vs West we would suggest test in each location before fully installing. It's amazing how much just 1 meter difference in location can make to how much charge is received.
What is the angle of detection the our will pick up. My garden is approx 5m wide and 10m long it has been suggested I place this light in the middle of an external walk to cover the garden width for security purposes.
Asked by Catriona on 15 Nov 2018
Approximately 120 degrees and 10m in distance.
Hi, I presume the off button turns the light off, so that the PIR doesn't work
Asked by Chris Bedford on 7 Nov 2018
That is correct. Off will also put it in charge only mode.
Will one remote operate two or more lamps? I.e. are the remotes only paired to one lamp unit? I would like to get a few but don't want a load of remotes cluttering my worktop
Asked by Brent on 23 Oct 2018
A remote will operate any of the lights and is not paired with just one.
Can you use remote to turn light on and keep it on until switched off again ? Or does it only come on and off with pir
Asked by Lee on 10 Oct 2018
Yes, you can use it as an on/off light. The light has 5 modes. Mode 3 (red indicator light on) After dusk the lamp illuminates at medium brightness and turns off after it runs out of charge or 10 hours, whatever comes sooner.
How bright is the light In mode 3 (medium brightness) in Lumens?
Asked by Jaroslaw Michalik on 24 Sep 2018
500 Lumens.
What is the maximum height over ground level at which the unit can be wall mounted.
Asked by George Chalmers on 24 Sep 2018
The detection range is up to 10 metres away so we would recommend no more than 4 metres for optimal lighting and detection.
Can this, light be set to only use remote control to switch on and off please?
Asked by Sue on 26 Aug 2018
Yes, you can do this with the remote.
Is there any way to secure the Eco Wedge Elite to the wall to prevent an intruder in the garden simply lifting it off and throwing it away.
Asked by Robbie on 23 Aug 2018
We've never had a report of anyone doing this with any of the slide on products we've sold for 10 years now. If you're concerned your location may be particularly vulnerable you could simply install one addition screw above the light that you screw in after installation.
Could you advise if the battery can be changed and if not how long approximately it will last for before I need to replace the light.
Asked by Avril Foster on 15 Jun 2018
The battery can not be changed simply but it is possible and isn't recommended. The light comes with a 12month warranty and we had not batteries issue yet on this product. We'd expect 5+ years (we have many 10yr old lights still going) We are looking into a service to offer this in the future.
Hi just received our Eco Wedge Solar light and my husband is struggling (terrible at DIY) to fit it to the wall he is using two screws straight into the wall but say one gust of wind and the light will come off. Is there any help you can give me as he needs help... :-(
Asked by ANGELA CUNNINGHAM on 16 May 2018
It sounds like the screws aren't dropping down into the small hole in the back. Have a look at the instructions here you'll see the big hole will take the screw head and it will drop down in the slot and be secure. Hope this helps.
I like this lamp but want a warm white light. Is there a version in warm white light ?
Asked by Cheryl Freeman on 15 Mar 2018
The Evo SMD Pro or Elite are the most comparable lights in terms of brightness, with a warm white light output.
Can the pir be adjusted for detection distance? I live in a house that is close to the footpath and road. I would also have to mount the light at the height of around 2metres, would this make a difference to the detection area?
Asked by Paul on 11 Mar 2018
The PIR cannot be adjusted. The Evo SMD Pro or Elite are the most comparable brightness PIR lamps with adjustable PIRs.
Can you please define "substandard location" as described in Mode 2, I would have to position this light on a North facing wall
Asked by Roy on 7 Mar 2018
A substandard location would include a north facing wall or a heavily shaded location. With normal domestic use (a few activations a night) it would probably be OK on a north facing wall but you may need to move it temporarily to a sunny spot to top up the charge as required. Alternatively it may be worth considering a security light with a remote panel .
Does the remote need line of sight. It would Be nice to put up on an external wall and control from inside the house as a general spotlight
Asked by Geoff H on 4 Feb 2018
The remote is infrared like a TV remote but will work up to 8m away. As with a TV remote, you need to point it in the general direction for it to work so you might be able to use the remote from within your house assuming the light is not around a corner.
