Does the solar panel need to be in direct sunlight? How many hours of direct sunlight are needed during the day for it to charge sufficiently? Thanks

The solar panel does need direct sunlight. We recommend as much direct sunlight as possible between the hours of 10am and 6pm for a sufficient charge.
Good afternoon, when assembled and with the unit charged, the sensor won't illuminate with the green light to set the time and lux. Is it possible to buy a new PIR sensor separately. Thanks for you help

We do not have any sensors available to purchase. However, if you are inside your 12 month warranty period we may be able to issue you a replacement one.
What is the sensor detection angle on the Eye, and what is the sensor detection range? How many lumens does it give?

We do not list lumens. It is the equivalent of a 100 watt halogen light. The detection range is 2 to 12m and the angle from the front of the unit is 180 degrees.

It's roughly 400 lumens. The light is the equivalent of a 100 watt halogen light you might use around the home.
How many total minutes of lighting per night could one expect from an installation in the south of England after a dull winter's day.

This all depends on an ideal location of solar panel and how much sunlight it has been receiving. It is not easy to give it a number. On average, during summer and ideal charge, it will have up to 500 activation's per night. During the winter you should expect just over half in the same location.
I would like the lights to turn on, triggered by the motion sensor only, no matter if it is light or dark outside. Would that be possible?

Hi, I have located an 18m PIR sensor and would like to use it with your EYE set up. (the light will be closer to the target area - probably 12m) Can you supply the kit without the sensor normally in the kit? and if so, what is the retail price of the PV panel & light? Tks

We would not recommend using this light. It is not compatible with a 12v system. I recommend you take a look at the Geo Kit's we do instead.
can you take it down for six months then put it bk up after six months will the battery be ok thanks

Is the Eye Solar Security light suitable for mounting INSIDE a shed and will it take an additional solar booster panel?

Yes, just make sure you factor in the PIR position for activation. Also note the light won't activate during the day while the panel is charging the light. The Eye is designed to work without an additional booster panel.
The spec states it will come on 500 times per night. Assuming 10 seconds per time = 5000 seconds divided by 60 + 83 minutes. Does the battery really only last 1 hour and 23 minutes? Can you recommend another product that has a 6-8 hour battery that will recharge in 1 day. Intended use is in hot tropical place with 12 hours sun per day. Many thanks.

This light is not intended to stay on for long periods hence the short working time. It should not be continuously triggered via PIR to keep it on. If you want a light that will stay on for a long time I recommend you look at the spotlights which turn on at dusk and off once it runs out of battery hours later.
Can I install this light on a 5 metre pole would it still give good light and coverage

You can have the motion sensor between 0.3m and 1.3m from the light head. Extension cables are available should you wish to extend this.
Could you please advise me if this light can be set to stay on for a period of time. i.e. if you wanted to sit in the garden and have the light on. thanks

The Eye will remain lit for up to 10 mins once motion has ceased. If motion is detected within this period the timer will start over again.

You get 5m with the light. You can also use 2 extension cables linked together to achieve the length required. With every extension cable you add you lose a small amount of charge but if the location for the panel is ideal then it may be worth it.
Are the batteries inside the Eye Solar Security Light replaceable? NiMH batteries?

The batteries are Li-Ion and are wired into the unit. They could be replaced (with some technical know-how) but shouldn't need to be for a good few years.
Looking for a light for outside a stable, can this light be tilted to shine into the stable as well as used out in yard area ? Also could the motion sensor be turned off? Thank you

Unfortunately there isn't a way the motion sensor can be turned off. I would recommend the Astron Solar Floodlight if you want a light you can turn on/off. The Eye Solar Security Light has a unique mount that can be tilted in all angles to a degree.
I am considering buying the Eye42. Could you please confirm the angle and range of the light and also the angle of detection of the motion sensor? Many thanks.

You can move the Eye 42 Solar Security Light using it's innovative new curved mount to almost any angle you like or that would best suit your needs. The light covers up to 30m and the PIR range is 120 degrees from the front of the sensor and extends outwards up to 12m.
Have just installed the Eye 42, I don't think it has any charge yet, how do I know if it is on or off?

The best way to tell if the Eye Solar Security Light is on or off is to unplug the solar panel and PIR motion sensor and then push the on/off button a few times. The light should turn on regardless of other settings, day or night.
I have installed light as per the instructions. There has only been a couple of hours of good sun light since installed two days ago and there is no light or any indication that it is charging. How long will it take before it has sufficient charge to start working?

A lot of our lights come with a little big of charge in them already. The recommended charging period is 3 - 5 days but it should work after just one (for testing purposes). If it still isn't working I would recommend contacting the office: Returns@TheSolarCentre.co.uk to complete some troubleshooting.

In the box there is 5m of cable between the light and the solar panel. We are currently working on an extension cable that you can purchase to add another 5m which should be available within the coming months.
Can the sensitivity of the light be adjusted to not turn on every time a fox or cat enters the garden?

The sensitivity cannot be adjusted on this light. If you are looking for a light where you can adjust the sensitivity I would recommend the Evo 36 or 56 Solar Security Light for the job.

The PIR senses motion up to 12m away. The product is supplied with a full 12 month warranty.
