Is it possible to connect an exterior motion sensor light to work along with switch controlled interior lights ?
Asked by Dan Smith on 24 Aug 2021
I am afraid not. That won't be possible.
Hi, Can larger or an additional solar panel be added to increase the charging rate, particularly in winter? Thanks
Asked by Colin on 29 Dec 2020
Yes, this is a modular kit, so another panel can be added.
Could I attach standard (normally mains powered) LED garden post lights? Obviously with appropriate buried cable.
Asked by Nigel Massey on 29 Apr 2020
No, sorry! We would not recommend this.
Could I use this kit with 2 switches to allow independent lighting of a pair of linked garages, i.e 1 switch in each garage allowing lighting in either garage A, garage B and garage A + B when required?
Asked by Stuart Mathieson on 17 Feb 2020
Yes, 2 switches would work
Could this type of system be used to light a standard Street lamp? Or would it require a stronger system. Do you have one? If a more powerful system were used could it be linked into the grid to provide power that was not used?
Asked by Richard Conway-Hyde on 18 Jan 2020
No, Sorry this would not be suitable.
Could I use this system, with an inverter, to charge the batteries for my cordless power tools?
Asked by John Starkie on 12 Dec 2018
We wouldn't recommend it as these kit are designed for lighting however, it would work but could limit the life of the battery if you drain it too much and too often. If you only needed to charge once every 4-7days in summer months it may work.
Hello. I looking to put a solar light system in to my dog kennels (block of four) and was wandering if their is a suitable heat bulb that runs with this system
Asked by Ian jane on 29 Sep 2017
These kits are designed for lights but you could run a heat lamp too. You really need to look into the power usage of a heat lamp as it likely to be to high for this if used regularly.
Hi, I do not think that 10m of cable supplied with the Geo4 kit will be sufficient for me to connect from the location of the battery to all light sockets. Is it possible to use up to 10m more cable and if so, will this have a detrimental affect to the amount of light produced?
Asked by Phil Hopkinson on 2 Oct 2016
Hi Phil, 10meters is the standard we supply, but feel free to contact us here: https://www.thesolarcentre.co.uk/pages/contact_us.html and we'd be able to add more for a small cost. The length of the wire does reduce performance so it's best to keep the length as short as you can however the difference between 10m and 15m likely to be very limited.
Can this solar lighting kit be fitted for outside use in all weathers?
Asked by Bob Guest on 1 Oct 2016
The GEO kit is design for the panel to be outside and the lights inside.
Hi, Can I wire the lights in parallel with separate light switches, 3 lots of 2 lights, each with a different light switch?
Asked by Paul on 13 Oct 2015
Yes.
I am interested in the GEO4 kit. Please can you advise what battery I would need to purchase?
Asked by ALAN IRVINE on 10 Aug 2014
We recommend the 104Ah battery which you can add to the your order at time of purchasing.
Hi. Would it possible to add a PIR lamp and laptop/phone charging facility to a geo 3 or 4 size kit, for occasional use, or would you need a larger panel?
Asked by Dr Martin on 23 Jan 2014
Yes it is possible, it all depends on how much you need to use the lights / laptop, etc. You can add an inverter to the battery that presents as a 3 pin plug socket to use as required. A PIR and floodlight can be easily added to the lighting circuit.
