How long is the LED lights strip?
Asked by Edward on 26 Jun 2025
Hello, The strip is 10m long.
I'm aware that there is an on/off switch on the solar panel, but does this prevent the automatic schedule from working? Is there anyway to manually make the lights come on during the day if they are used to illuminate a dark shed?
Asked by Ben on 20 Aug 2024
The panel needs to be in the dark for the lights to come on as that is where the sensor is. The only way to make this come on in the day would be to cover the panel tricking it into thinking it is dusk, however the panel will not be charging the batteries when covered, so we do not really recommend this.
Are these cold white or warm white and can you cut them?
Asked by Sue on 1 Aug 2024

hi there, sorry for being thick, but can these strip lights not be cut to the desired length as the mains powered ones can? - I want to back light a large Corten house sign, but will probably only need a couple of metres at most . . . can you recommend / help?
Asked by Steve on 29 Nov 2023
Please note that the Madison Strip Lights can not be cut to size. We do have our Edge strip lights which are available in 5m , 10m and 20m lengths. These can be shortened with cut points at 165mm intervals. Hope this helps!
Are these lights weather proof ie does the solar panel need covered in winter to protect it from hard frost/ freezing temperatures when not being used and if so will that affect the battery in the solar panel if let covered for a long period
Asked by Mark speirs on 25 Nov 2023
Hello, these are weatherproof, but we do not advise these to be submerged in water. There is no need to cover the panel at all. If we do get adverse weather just clear it from the panel, such as snow or heavy frost.

Hi, when I first put the strip on, the light was quite bright but now I've noticed it's less bright. I read that it has 3 light settings, where is this located to change the brightness please?
Asked by Amer on 6 Apr 2023
Hi Amer, You will find the push botton on the underside of your solar panel. First press: The lights will come on after dark in full brightness mode. Second press: The lights will come on at dusk in the first powersaving mode (brightness reduced slightly, but will work for longer) Third press: The lights will come on at dusk in the second powersaving mode (brightness will reduce by half, but will work for even longer) Fourth press: The lights will turn off and will not turn on automatically, but they will still charge.
Is there an extension cable available from the Solar panel to the light strip as I will need to position the LED strip more like 6M away from the start of the strip as I have a north facing garden. Also if there is can more than 1 extension be used for even greater distances.

As per the picture, does the strip simply bend around the corner or is there a way to cut it and use a connector to bridge the corner in a more flexible way?
Asked by Ron on 11 Mar 2023
Hi Ron, We would not advise to cut these they are pretty felxible to bend in corners. Cutting these would void the warranty

Asked by David on 1 Feb 2023
Madison's 3W solar panel is 6 times more powerful than a standard decorative lighting solar panel so it is advised to use the panel it comes with.
I know they switch themselves on and off automatically, but can you switch them on and off via the remote control, or is it that just to adjust the light settings?
Asked by Rebecca on 29 Jan 2023
Hi Rebecca, you can switch the lights off and on by the switch located on the back of the solar panel.
Can they be trimmed
Asked by Nathan Edwards on 23 Jan 2023
Unfortunately this isn't possible without soldering where the cut is made between the two positive terminals.

I wish to provide some light down one side of my house, as it is quite dark. Will the lights stick to normal house bricks. If not, what do you suggest.
Asked by David Wild on 10 Sep 2022
Generally, it's pretty hard to get anything to stick to house bricks. It really depends on the effect you are looking for but maybe you could add a tiny wooden shelf and add the light underneath or you could hand the lights on hooks?
Please can you tell me is this a warm white or cool white light? Is the adhesive backing strong enough to mount so that the lights are facing down attached to the underside of smooth granite steps?
Asked by Perri on 21 Oct 2021
