FAQs: Zenith Solar Wall Light
Frequently asked questions
Hi, does this light need direct sunlight to charge? Would like to install this around 300cm under a canopy above a house sign which only gets sunlight late evenings for a few hours, its not completely dark under the canopy during the daylight hours. Thanks
Asked by Paul on 21 Sep 2025
Hi! Great question. Solar lights do perform best with direct sunlight, as it allows the internal battery to fully charge and provide optimal brightness and runtime. That said, this light will still charge in indirect light just at a slower rate and less runtime.

How long does it take to fully charge this light to get 16 hours from it. Bought 2 of these lights hoping to get a full night but only getting about 8 hours on a day that is really sunny
Asked by Lynn Logan on 29 Mar 2021
We strongly recommend leaving the light switched off for 5 days to allow a good base charge on the batteries. As we are now in autumn/winter we would recommend using the power-saving mode for doubling the run time, so do check the instructions on how to activate this. Please also make sure the light is in the open and there is no heavy shading over the panel.
Can this Zenith solar wall light be inverted and used as an up lighter as opposed to a down light?
Asked by Steven Cooke on 26 Mar 2021
No as the panel is on top.

Does it need direct sun light to charge or for example could it be mounted upside to illuminate a sign from underneath and have the solar panel pointing downwards. I.e. 45 degree down to the ground.
Asked by Ian on 13 Mar 2021
I am afraid not. The panel needs to be on top and exposed in direct daylight.
Can the light be turned off at night if not required? Is there a switch?
Asked by Tony on 11 Mar 2021
There is an on/off switch button located at the back of the unit.
Can this light be turned off if we don't want it coming on every evening?
Asked by Glyn Saul on 7 Mar 2021
The on/off button is on the inside of the back of the light, so not easily accessible to turn off.
