Simple to fit Verified Purchase
Arrived well packaged. Instructions simple to follow and light is good. Only small disappointment were a) even for a small shed the cable was JUST long enough, and b) battery came with 6.3mm male spade connections but eye connectors were supplied. Will be checking battery volts over time to see how well it charges without charge controller.

Geo 1 Solar Kit Verified Purchase
A great bit of kit, very easy to install in a 8 x 12 shed, i also purchased an additional lamp holder an bulb just to light the whole shed. It is as good if not better than any mains light would be without all the hassle of having to get mains supply to the shed. I would highly recommend the Geo 1

Great Verified Purchase
A great kit, everything came very quickly and as advertised. Easy to put together. Some misprinting in instructions so difficult to read some key words. Also, very good and quick e-mail response to my question. ( I had rewired incorrectly)

Geo 1 Solar Kit Verified Purchase
Very pleased with the amount of light produced by a 12v battery.Ample to illuminate my small garden shed.A couple of issues to mention though. The kit arrived without cable, luckily I had some 1mm twin and earth in the shed and I used that. Also I found it a bit fiddly to attach the solar panel to the fixing brackets with tywraps

GEO 1 Verified Purchase
The kit received, in general, is fine and produces, at the moment, great light for our shed. I would suggest a couple of issues be addressed to enhance it. Provide more wire/cable as that provided is not really enough. Consider how the parts can be more easily connected as working in a dark shed is not conducive to tightening very small screws!

Geo 1 Solar Kit and battery Verified Purchase
Fitted in a 7x5 ft shed and does the job perfectly well. The light is good enough for my son and his friends to see to work on their bikes in the dark and the panel charges the recommended battery quickly enough to be ready for the next night. Just enough cable supplied to fit the kit, providing you take time to plan the route and layout of the various parts, though an extra metre would have made things that bit easier. I bought a charge controller for this set and all seems to be as expected. Very pleased with this set.

Delivery speed, very quick the Geo 1 is an excellent kit I have a 10 x 8 ft shed and one bulb gives plenty of light. Only one problem I gad to source extra cable as not enough was provided apart from that excellent piece of kit and very easy to install

Description

Unlike large solar panel systems that can take many years to pay for themselves, our Geo Mains Free Solar Lighting Kits deliver instant savings. Installing a mains lighting to remote locations isn't always possible and is often highly expensive when it is.

Our Geo kits can be installed by anyone with basic DIY skills and are exempt from Part P of the building regulations which means there is no need to pay an electrician to have your kit installed and certified.

Geo 1 Applications

The Geo 1 will light an area of 16 Square Metres making it ideal for medium sized rooms, sheds, garages, outhouses, wendy houses, greenhouses and tree houses. As well as providing you with lighting you can use the charge stored in the battery for powering a variety of small electronic devices simply by adding an inverter.

What Battery Do I Need?

The Geo 1 - Mains Free Solar Lighting Kit can be used with a 12Ah or greater 12v battery. If you are using a low capacity battery, such as the 12Ah, we recommend disconnecting the battery when not in regular use, to prevent overcharge. Alternatively you can add a charge controller to the system so there's no need to disconnect the battery.
You can choose a battery using the drop down selector above the Add to Basket button. If you already have a 12v battery you can use it with this kit, please note using a lower capacity then recommended will reduce the length of time the lights run for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question:
What are the dimensions of the Geo 1 solar panel? You say there are plastic squares to attach it to a roof, but my roof slopes slightly away from the sun, so I was thinking to place the panel on a sloping support, thus towards the sun. Is this possible with this panel?
By Marcia Machin on Aug 20, 2018
Answer:

With this kit we don't include any sort of bracket angle the panel as everyone roof/location is different, we'd recommend going to a local DIY store for bracket to suit your needs. Panel size:

  • Size: 364mm x 164mm x 17mm
  • Encapsulation: sealed with low iron tempered glass and anodized aluminium alloy frame

Question:
I would like to use this kit (12Ah battery) to power an external 12V PIR (as for sale on your website) with very occasional use of an internal light as well (approx 2hr/week). Is this suitable and can the extra light be wired in easily?
By Glenn on Jan 3, 2018
Answer:

The size of the panel is designed for one light but more can be attached, it would depend on the amount of use and panel position. It sounds like with the occasional use of the light along with a PIR this would suit your needs. If you think you use will be high then consider the model up the GEO 2

By ron hatcher on Aug 3, 2017
Answer:

The charge controller has been updated but you should be able to see the panel icon, battery and light icon with + and -

You could add a second battery but you would need addtional panels. Feel free to contact us in you need more info
